Ashampoo and Franzis has become a staple on this site (i believe they are the same company) . I have come to a point where I blindly trust Ashampoo programs as for the most part they proform well however these and many more program developers have one down side that needs to change soon , its the ‘one computer (device) one licence’ mentatlity this is no longer from these times as most households now have an avrage of 3 – 5 devices, there is no way one house is going to buy 5 licences for the same program never mind how useful it may be , to be clear i am not just refering to Ashampoo and its affilites here , there are many more that still uphold this priceing practise ,thats one reason we are looking for giveaways and not buying much .

[@king] Microsoft does not support the use of registry cleaners. Some programs available for free on the internet might contain spyware, adware, or viruses.

Microsoft is not responsible for issues caused by using a registry cleaning utility. We strongly recommend that you only change values in the registry that you understand or have been instructed to change by a source you trust, and that you back up the registry before making any changes.

Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of a registry cleaning utility can be solved. Issues caused by these utilities may not be repairable and lost data may not be recoverable.

In response to [@phoe monreo] who claims that Microsoft does not support registry cleaners . . . and who comes to a program giveaway site to claim that ‘Some programs available for free on the internet might contain spyware, adware, or viruses’, and then goes on to claim that ‘we’-the-author are Microsoft.

    No.

#1, Microsoft wrote and released a registry cleaner – RegClean.exe – so there, released in support of Windows 95, and still works on all versions of Windows today, I daily use RegClean.exe v4.1.7364.1 from 1997 on all my computers, mostly Windows 7 x64 Pro, and newer Windows 10 and Windows 11, and it works just fine.

#2, Here at Shareware On Sale, NO programs have malware – please do not come to a file download site and tell people not to download files – Ashraf, who runs Shareware On Sale, and all of us users, know about checking anything we download FREE at [ VirusTotal . com ], so we know what we are getting, and we know what we are getting into.

#3, ‘we’ report here from our hands-on experience of the software under discussion, so please download it, use it – even if you only inspect it’s recommendations and decide NOT to delete any identified registry entries – and report on your experience.

    Let’s do that.

    – – – – –

Ashampoo Registry Cleaner v2 installs on as many PC as you want, and it registers with your Ashampoo username and password, and it cleans only a little, very quickly, about 60+ innocuous items for me, mostly things that are not in daily use anyway, and most probably have had no effect on the user experience, I just ran it on a few computers, rebooted, no problem, not much effect at all.

Thanks as ever, Ashraf, for letting us explore this and share.

I can’t see getting this program when you have optimization programs which do a lot more than a mere registry cleaner. You would do better getting Ashampoo WinOptimizer 18 which has a lot more features besides a registry cleaner like getting rid of junk files, scanning and repair of disk errors, defragmenting of drives, elimination of browsing traces, permanent elimination of unwanted files, and many more features. Why get this program when you can get so much more.

phoe monreo Please read again,I was not even on about this specfic giveaway or even registry cleaners in particlur even lesss Microsoft, furthermore nowhere did i say Microsoft is responsible for issues caused by using a registry cleaning utility . I mentioned Ashampoo is a program developer i have come to trust I buy all of the programs that i use from them if they proform the job in the way i find fit my purpose ( i bought to date 27 of their programs )i dont even download the giveaways any more i go to their site and buy, stupid i know because i have about four i no longer use and two that i wasted money on,( if you ever develope a program or tried to then you would know why you buy insted or look for giveaways) my gripe was about companies in general with their price structure ,i know this was not the place for this but i was hoping to see some change after i saw the amount i spent buying software during last year and not just at one company,I have nothing on this registry cleaner i dont use one ,sorry .

Don’t really trust programs where there are misspellings in the program. Under basic functions and the Backups tab & Other, they misspelled the word successfully. One would think they would have proofreaders before they launch a new program. Hmm….

The RegClean utility is no longer supported and has been removed from all Microsoft download sites.
