It’s stated on the giveaway page (right panel) that: Version is v10.0.3
I think that’s very misleading. It is NOT the same as Ashampoo snap v10.0.3, it is a crippled version of it.
Some features that version 2018 DOESN’T have:
No OCR
Can’t choose the output format – it defaults to .png
Can’t choose the output filename format.That’s as far as I’ve looked as they are deal-breakers for me.
I previously had Ashampoo snap version 8 which DOES have the above features and so is a way better version in my mind.
njwsos’ new post concerns me; I was JUST going to post a question about whether this one, being a “year-numbered” version, might actually have LESS features (despite the site saying it’s 10.0.3) than my version 8. Sure enough, looks like it does have LESS. While I don’t believe my version of 8 has OCR (and that’s not critical for me), the inability to choose output format or name would be a total dealbreaker. Is this really accurate? It seems totally unacceptable not to allow us to choose, say, .jpg, or name the file something more instructive than their cryptic names.
Does anyone have the full info on what is and is not changed in this version from the 8 version offered here previously? That one’s working fine for me, but I like keeping current.

My version of Snap 8, also obtained for free, does have OCR.
This version of Snap is not listed on Ashampoo’s web site, so I would assume it is a special promotional version.[@njwsos] All Ashampoo year version numbers are special promo versions of their full versions. The version numbers can be misleading, I agree, but that is out of my hands.
Ashampoo Snap 2018 – will not activate. After entering my Ashampoo email and password, all it does is show the blue line. I use the same email and password to log into http://www.ashampoo.com, and it will log in immediately. How am I to activate this program?
This has just started on the 26 of this month when I went to load the Ashampoo Snap 2018 offer — Click on your connection to download and a message comes up — Your PC settings only let it install verified apps from the store. At bottom of message — Still want to install apps from outside the store – open settings — click on this takes you to Apps and Features where there is a tab with “Allow apps from store only” — When I click on this nothing changes.
Have Win 10 with all latest updates and haven’t had trouble downloading or that message before yesterday and I have NOT changed any settings
Thanks, TedProduct does what it says. it makes video and screenshots. No issues during install., but as is, the functions i would like to use are not in this provided programm.
I have to get the ‘newer’ more advanced product.
No real editing mode in this one..
