Slightly confused: my version of HippoEDIT is 1.61.53, and there are (apparently) no available updates. So is v1.61.58 some “special” version that will protect itself from updates via the internal update mechanism? Or is it just a typo?

I like HippoEDIT — but both the stable version and the beta (2.x) versions seem to have stagnated and the problems I’ve had with the beta have left me with 1.61.53 for what seems like a couple of years, now.

However, it has a lot of good points, not least of which is easy access to column mode (horrifyingly useful and memorable with Alt-C) and a zillion plugins and syntax schemes.

I installed as portable, but there were over 100 (can’t remember exact number) registry entries. Is it truly portable?

Thanks to the Boss and HippoEDIT for making this available, and Happy Holidaze to all!
