The original Winpatrol author wrote a rather brilliant little application called Task Catcher some years ago, that does this sort of thing. Sadly, while it still works, it’s no longer supported or updated. So I’m kind of interested in this, but a satisfaction rating of just 20% on the offer page is kind of worrying. Anyone got any useful perspectives?

“Some applications are prone to crash”. Such applications should be removed from the computer, not restarted. Automatically restarting them is like replacing a blown fuse instead of trying to find the short-circuit.

$10 seems awfully pricey for something you can do with a windows “start /wait x” command more effectively, using only a smart shortcut. (Alternatively, the “tasklist” output could be piped to an “if” statement to see if the process is already running, and start it if not. Then use your delay function of choice for waiting between check intervals. This could be done with a batch file.)

Admittedly, I haven’t tried this program–I personally see no point, although I recognize this is something not everyone knows how to do by themselves.
