Note the giveaway license key WORKS with the portable edition download, the license is semi-portable as it is stored in the file dm.wiper.ac and validated online and removed if it cannot get an internet connection to connect to the validation server.
Also note that in order to securely erase data you MUST disable VSS/System Protection on the target drive as each write stores a copy of the previous data to the VSS database as unencrypted data that can be recovered by any recovery programs deep scan of the entire surface which includes the VSS database area… the true solution is to never put anything on a computer that needs to be securely erased or do without system restore and previous versions feature and use overwrite erasure programs like this. Note it is impossible to securely erase FLASH memory data as each write moves the previous FLASH memory cell out of the drives LBA address space and queues it for eventual erasure which can take some time and while it’s queued for erasure the chips can be physically removed from the device and placed in a custom reader that allows access to all FLASH memory cells on the chip and queued for erasure memory cells can be freely read, also remember every overwrite reduces the lifespan of all FLASH memory devices which includes USB thunbdrives, memory Cards or all types, and ALL SSD’s regardless of connection type of claimed FLASH memory chip shape or design. Physical destruction is only true way to way to erase FLASH memory without custom firmware.[@TK] T.K. I am grateful for all the commentary and reviews that you provide on this site. I can’t always follow all of your detailed analyses, but it’s clear you know what you’re talking about and I appreciate the time you take to give us your critiques and various warnings. It often dissuades me from wasting my time downloading various offerings. Good job.
[@Ziggy] yes I am the same TK from GAOTD site who often gets censored and deleted there and other sites, thank you both for your kind words, I only post to inform of what I feel is important to give others a heads up on issues that may be relevant to them.
I’ve always been pleased with Macrorit products and this is timely as I need to clean a couple of old laptops.
