Doesn’t appear to support recovery from a dd disk image file or similar unless you can find a way to mount it as virtual drive and that replicate direct sector access for the program. No mention of it being able to create and then scan an image file from a failing disk to reduce the number of accesses that have to be made to a failing disk and so increase the chances of data recovery without further data loss. I notice on one of their “user” testimonials it says something impossible if the words used are technically correct:

“Magic Data Recovery saved years of work!

accidentally wiped an external drive containing important project files. I tried several tools, but only Magic Data Recovery brought everything back — fast, clean, and easy!
    real-life data recovery stories showcase

Note the pictures are too tiny to do a reverse image search to see if they are stock photos, probably on purpose as others have been caught out making false testimonials that way.

If he really wiped an external drive that means he overwrote erased it not just re-formated it as any computer literate person knowns a quick format, which is what almost all people would do on an external drive if they wanted to format it to save hours waiting for every sector to be read from the drive, practically all the data is still on the external drive because TRIM does not work for external drives so any recovery program would have recovered data from a re-formated drive easily but NO recovery software including amagicsofts program can recover data from a wiped external or internal drive.

IF they really have 1.2million customers why are they offering an expiring license via a giveaway site surely they’d have enough word of mouth free marketing from that claimed user-base without needing to enlist more from a giveaway site.

Far better option is multi-layer backups of important files and not using a duplicate finder to aggressively delete those practical backup duplicates of files you’ve been working on… don’t put your trust in being able to recover accidentally deleted or lost files from damaged media… if it’s important make multiple backups including to different media not just shadowcopy backups that are lost if the drive gets damaged or corrupted or written to directly bypassing VSS system.

There is an executable installed by this called meventagent.exe once the program is run and you do something like activate sucessfully it tries to access a few different IP numbers using https connections… looks like this program dials home to deliver some sort of information… and consumes large portions of CPU unless you let it through your firewall…peaking at 53% on a multi-core CPU so is multi-threaded… End Tasked in task manager, yikes it continues on even though it no longer shows in Taskmanager… and my C: SSD drive got awfully hot at 51C! Lets see if other tools can see it or control it… Process Explorer cannot see it windows private firewall GUI for windows firewall reports the process name and process ID but that ID is not shown in task manager or process explorer… looks like I am going to have to logout and log back in to see if that terminates the process or a full reboot will be needed… be back later… This is looking like malicious invasive software so far, thankfully I do not use the default Windows 10 firewall rules that permit all outbound traffic and have been able to stop this rogue process from making contact with its homebase!

[@TK] Thanks Ashraf… shame you don’t do proper evaluations of these programs before you offer them to us! I just logged out and it did stop the rogue process but then I tried to install it formally to see if it offered the option to disable the spyware calling home… it did NOT offer the choice and right after exiting the installer after declining to run the program the process launched itself again so making thousands of attempts to connect to the external we servers via both IPv4 and IPv6 numbers on https port 443 this time I tried renaming the file in the installation directory to meventagent1.exe so it would not be the same name and simple to re-launch but that made no difference the program came right back under its original filename and continued hammering against my firewall… The ONLY option if one wants this program written by invasive bad actors is to log out again and then rename all the executables bar the main program and see if it still runs, to me this is dangerous extremely badly behaved software and should be considered at least a PUP and badware and potential malware. Once you have activated it, re-enable the block rule on the firewall if you have a custom GUI like I do or only launch the program without an internet connection. I am going to report their site for distributing malicious software as it is proactively working around legitimate tools to try and tame it’s unauthorised and unannounced encrypted communications with numerous unknown 3rd party sites. Ashraf IF you have any integrity you would remove this from your site forthwith and apologise profusely for trusting vendors without vetting them and their product professionally and not just by uploading it to virustotal as there are MANY bad behaviours not even looked for by virustotal that get green ticks when they are just unrecognised spyware because they have not been discovered by the so called 1.2million + users… well they have been discovered NOW! shame I don’t use 3rd party anti-malware software so I could submit it!
To everyone else DON’T RISK IT, IT IS BADWARE and is potentially SPYWARE/MALWARE

[@TK] on re-login so no rogue processes were running I renamed all the other executables in the install directory apart from the main executable and launched it only to see similar mass attack of my outbound firewall… same activity shown as the unable to launch meventagent.exe process… so closed the program via its user interface and expected the process to stop but it did not… I then copied over the license.dat file from my first temporary installer extraction which I did let access the net so I could activate it and it accepted the license.dat and with the program sitting there doing nothing but hammering against my firewall it is consuming nearly 60% CPU and getting my system drive hot while doing NOTHING legitimate! So even by neutering it and it’s rogue processes it still stresses out the hardware while doing NOTHING legitimate. Uninstalled with prejudice, this vendor is a scammer and bad actor, worse than most Chinese developers, didn’t know Singapore nationals had such deviously loose morals!

[@TK] Ah I see why it’s overheating my C: drive its the event log of the firewall logging all those by now potentially millions of blocked connection attempts. Still glad it’s GONE for good.

Niestety ale nic praktycznie nie odzyskał, to znaczy oliki niby odzyskane ale tylko były puste foldery i pliki których nie można otworzyć by wykorzystać, dla mnie ten program jest bezużyteczn

    Hello…

Program crashes and closes immediately after opening. Have uninstalled and re-installed several times with no better luck. Tried installing as an Administrator, without success. Need help.

Why would you waste your time repeatedly installing and uninstalling a program that [TK] has already evaluated and completely trashed? It’s behavior is so questionable that he called Ashraf out for even posting it. I’ve never seen him do that before in spite of criticizing multiple previous programs. He’s a knowledgeable and frequent commenter on here who I’ve found is worth paying attention to.
