ONLY for Windows 10 PRO or Server 2016/2019.

NOT for Windows 7 64 … which this program identified as Windows 10 Home!

    At [ https :// docs. microsoft. com/en-us/power-automate/desktop-flows/setup#limitations ]

    •System requirements:

◦A device that runs Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows Server 2016, or Windows Server 2019. ARM devices are not supported.
    ◦Minimum hardware ◦Storage: 1GB
    ◦RAM: 2GB
    ◦Recommended hardware ◦Storage: 2GB
    ◦RAM: 4GB
    ◦.NET Framework 4.7.2 or later

There’s NO REASON to limit, so if someone knows how to hack the manifest to permit installation and use on ANY .NET v7.7.2, please share.

I don’t know what it does, but after loading it, it requires a sign in to work. It hijacks Chrome, It wants to force edge, and it tracks users on their server. No wonder they give it away, it is like a radio beacon for MS, and yet there is a huge absence of info on what it will do for users except automate something.

    No clear purpose.

    It is OUT of here!

[ @Ashraf] Download, install, run? – Not with Microsoft LOL, download, install, reboot, run, register to join community to submit problem ticket, and even that (Microsoft) process failed LOL – and it’s worth $999?

I still have no idea what this does, just several possible suspicions. So I followed the Microsoft link in the “Small Print” / “Technical Details” section on the SOS offer page. Took me to a general Microsoft site selling Surface headphones, Windows, and of course, 365. Nothing anywhere about Power Automate Desktop. So I clicked on search, entered Power Automate Desktop, and the only result I got was a question asking if I need help finding anything.

I still have no idea what this does, just several possible suspicions. Most of them now approaching dark conspiracy theories, but then the reality hit me that yes, this is Microsoft. From my experience, they do many many things, none of them well. Today’s offer has reinforced my opinion. Again. And I still have no idea what this does.

[@Mr.Dave] I forgot to add…. On their search results page, one of their 3 suggestions (after be sure you spelled it right and try different keywords), was to search the web with Bing. This is basically Microsoft saying “we don’t know what this is either, but maybe someone somewhere else knows something about it.” And they continue to push Bing. Sad.

[@Mr.Dave] One more update. I poked around some more on Microsoft’s site and found some help for Power Automate Desktop. Considering they say this is for home users (and others), I thought this was interesting:

    “Prerequisites
o You need the on-premises data gateway for your device to have the desktop flow triggered by Power Automate.

The gateway is an enterprise-grade secure connection between Power Automate and your device (where your UI flow runs). Power Automate uses the gateway to access your on-premises device so that it can trigger your UI flows from an event, schedule, or button.

o A work or school account.

    Important

You must use the same work or school account to set up the gateway, to sign into Power Automate, and to log into your Windows device.”

Damn, I don’t have one of those gateway things in my home. Heavy sigh.

Plenty of example templates on the Microsoft site to give you some ideas on what to generate it is a macro software like vtask studio was.

The extensions for chrome firefox and edge are made to get the proper information from the links and forms you want to automate it will work without it but more risks in the macro failing if using just keyboard and mouse inputs.

I constantly get an error when creating any flow. It says no internet connection.
I guess better wait for the software to become freely available to any windows user, which will be coming in one of the future updates.
