    Thanks for the comment!

    > Avast didn’t like the install program but I over-rode Avast and installed anyway…

The installation program for IIS Express is the one we got from the Microsoft site. We will check with Avast to see what the problem is and post our answer here later today.

    > To give you an idea of what I mean Google “How to export data from Reckon Quicken Personal Plus to Moneydance” and you will see how someone set up a process to get the data from Aus Quicken to MoneyDance

Thanks for the tip! We will have a look and implement it if possible.

    2. I read the features and FAQ and may have missed it but does MoneyPal have reminders?

Not yet. We have added features similar to most other financial apps. Where we go from here depends on where there is the most demand. Money-Pal can currently do most of the basics of most other personal finance apps do but as you might have noticed it has a much wider spread.

    Thanks again for the feedback!

    Thanks for you comment!

    – Money-Pal: It installed just fine–it could use a silent install for the dependencies.
Good idea, thanks, we will implement that.

    – After installation, I clicked on the icon (where’s the “run now” option?) to launch Money-Pal and all I got was a “File not found” error from “Money-pal Web Services Setup”. This is on a clean Win10-1511 virtual machine.

We had a look at the error. Money-Pal adds a link on the desktop. If you start Money-Pal from that link, then it starts OK. Windows 10 automatically adds a link in the Money-Pal folder that we were not aware of. If you click on that link then you get the “File not found” error. We will correct the Windows 10 link in our new version. I apologise for the error.

    Thanks again for the feedback

IIS Express could not start because the COM+ application was not registered. Usually this happens if the installer does not have sufficient rights.

Unfortunately we do not have a shortcut to fix this problem yet and you have to uninstall the program and reinstall the program as administrator.

    To uninstall the COM+ application:

Go to Control Panel – Administrative Tools – Component Services.
Open Component Services – Computers – My Computer – COM+ Applications
Right Click on Budgetpal and then on Shut Down and then on Delete.

To uninstall the program and dependencies:
Go to Control Panel – Click on Programs and Features – Click on Uninstall or change a program
Then uninstall Firebird, IIS Express, LiveMPSetup and Money-Pal.

Install the program again by right-clicking on the setup.exe and select Run as Administrator.

Thank you for your feedback, Bill.

    Hi All,

    Thanks for the feedback.

We have fixed the File not Found bug and the service that Avast complained about.

The new version is on our website but we kept the version the same so that the activation code supplied by SharewareOnSale will still work with this version.

Thanks for being so responsive and replying to our queries.

I have downloaded the latest version from your website and can confirm that it installs fine with no messages from Avast.

    However it does not run.
When it starts up, a box comes up asking to start IIS which I click on and IIS seems to start OK. Then it opens a window in my browser with this message:

    BudgetGlobal.BudGlobal error ‘8000ffff’
    [AnyDAC][Phys][IB]unavailable database
    /mp/Default.asp, line 87

    And that’s it- not usable.

It’s a shame as I am very keen to get a new money program, but even if it was working I’m not sure I’d want to use it. It is very slow to start up with having to start IIS each time (and I wouldn’t want to have IIS running all the time)

    Thanks

Yes, you’re right. It takes about 10 seconds to start. We can get that down to about 4 seconds when IISExpress is not running as we only really need to setup the config file only once.

As to IIS Express running all the time, we are building in a small control program which will monitor when Money-Pal is not using IIS Express anymore and then remove IIS Express and the control program from the memory.

Thanks again for your super feedback!

uninstalled all portions of program: Money pal, IIS Express and Firebird, then reinstalled. Worked OK but launched Money-Pal and all I got was a “File not found” error from “Money-pal Web Services Setup”.

Allowed program through firewall and logs(When I turned on IIS Express service – second tab) kept saying:
Failed to register URL “http://localhost:8095/mp/” for site “WebSite”. Error description: Endpoint is already in use by another IIS Express site (0x800700b7).
Failed to register URL “https://localhost:44399/mp/” for site “WebSite”. Error description: Endpoint is already in use by another IIS Express site (0x800700b7).

I tried different ports other than 8080 and 44300

We found out what caused the real “molasses”.

When you are not connected to the internet and tries to start Money-Pal then it tries to look for 2 fonts at Google. This takes an allmighty 1 minute and 46 seconds before giving up. We changed that to a local font and now it takes 1/2 second.

    I apologise for this everybody!

    Hi John,

Money-Pal can work without you being connected to the internet as all your data is stored locally on your computer.

You do not enter bank or other financial institutions usernames or passwords or use Money-Pal to connect to any banks.

    Hopes this helps!

Does not install. It comes up with a “File Missing” error and displays a Web Services window. It is impossible to proceed from here. I’ve also noticed that it installs 3 other program, 2 of which you can decline.
