Not safe:
If the source folder was on drive C: , it will be moved and only a file .pff remains at the source.
IF it the source was on another drive, the folder REMAINS there, but will get a name like PFDocument…BUT BE CAREFUL:
in both cases the files are NOT ENCRYPTED AT ALL ! – only the folder name is replaced through one, which won´t be accepted by most programs !!!
BUT:
– IrfanView” (as well as other tools) CAN read in all files from such folders!
– “File Commanders” (like “TotalCommander”, as well as many other tools) can easily access and rename such folders; and after having renamed them, ALL files can be fully used without any restrictions!I can and will not not call that “safe” (the upper behavior of this tool took me less than one minute to find that out…)

Password Folder free version can unlock the folder at anytime with your password. The unlocking process doesn’t require the registration forever.
Tested the same software from giveawayoftheday.com on july 23 2022.
Tested this one too, same result.
It does not protect a folder, it just renames a folder, no protection at all.Not worth using, as others have reviewed. Instead I use Cryptomator, which does actually encrypt files and folders with a password. I’ve been using it for years, it’s free and open-source with the code audited by experts.
