Sagelight originally came out many years ago, and I enjoyed using it immensely for a few years – I think it was on my XP box. It had some features that were way ahead of their time, like an effect that simulated a polarizing filter. It worked brilliantly. The software’s author was a great guy; we communicated occasionally. He even offered free updates and upgrades for life! No one did that. One day, Sagelight just shut down. I was really disappointed, and wound up going to Lightroom.
I don’t know if this is a rebirth, or just an old version resurfacing. I hope it’s a rebirth, because it really was a impressive little editor. Of course, the market is flooded now, including AI-based options, so Sagelight probably can’t compete at this point. However, if you’re looking for a great starter software that won’t break the bank, I’d recommend giving it a try (SoS says it works on Windows 11, but that remains to be seen).
