License is unlimited, or for three years?

It is 3 years. When registered it quotes the expiry date.

That’s not a serious product. It does not say how it’s better than other search programs, it uses unexplained concepts (what is “character-level search” ?), the help is next to non-existent, it’s quite expensive in its non-promotional version (39 $), and it expires after 3 years, reverting to the demo version ! (But they don’t tell you what the limitations of the demo version are.)

Even the promotional offer here expires after 3 years. There are several excellent search programs out there, many of them either being completely free, or having a quite powerful free version.

Plus, you apparently cannot use the program without being connected to the Internet. From the help page :

    — Why does TextSeek show “Unable to connect Internet” when I search?
    — TextSeek requires network verification. If you encounter problems, please disable the firewall and enable TextSeek to access the Internet.

That’s highly suspicious, even though they go on to say :

    — Will TextSeek upload local documents?
    — We focus on the protection of your privacy. TextSeek does not collect or publish your local information. No local documents will be uploaded.

Then why can’t I search without your program calling home ? That’s completely unheard of in such programs.

The install does not work: clicking on the shortcut on the desktop results in a tiny (TextSeek can not handle 4k screens) window that opens up to a location selection where it has to search for documents and where you can select that it has to start with Windows. It does not, however, open up the program itself nor does an icon appear in my system tray. Rebooting offers no improvement and the program itself does not start up, it only opens up the location selection time and time again.
    So I uninstalled.

The above having said, installing TextSeek does not register it in the programs list. So uninstalling has to be done by first searching the install folder in Program Files (x86). Very unprofessional.

    1. TextSeek performs a character-by-character search, so you can search “market” to match “Euromarket” or “supermarket”. That is TextSeek’s key feature, search text like in Notepad or Word. If you want to search by whole word, just select “match whole word”.

    2. TextSeek requires network verification. There are many softwares using this way to verify whether the user is valid user.

    Hi, Roal

Sorry for that, it seems our software fails to work in your computer. It only happens in some special environments. Can you provide more information about your environment? (You can see that there are little crash reports here, so it must run up in most computers)

Could you please run the utest.exe in your installation folder(For example, “C:\Program Files (x86)\TextSeek\) .
Tell us what it display or screenshot it and send to us ([email protected]) .

Thanks for you help and comments.

I hope you all are cleaning your systems WITHOUT uninstalling, because the uninstalled itself is “Packed”!

Ashraf, PLEASE include VirusTotal information on your offering — and re-check and clean your warehouse periodically.

    Thanks, I guess.

I installed it but when I try to open it… anything happened
I searched it, but it is not on the program list, and software to uninstall it does not not find it…
    It simply does not work…

[@Zest Company] “TextSeek performs a character-by-character search, so you can search “market” to match “Euromarket” or “supermarket”. That is TextSeek’s key feature.”

That’s trivial. I’ve just tried it on File Locator and Everything (content search). Those are two of the best and most popular search tools. Both will return “supermarket” whether you search for “super”, “market” or “supermarket”.

Both programs are free, by the way (File Locator has a very powerful paid-for version).

Mistype, sorry. You can have a try market to hit Euromarketing, substring in the moddle.

Indeed, FileLocator can hit but it is offline search tool so very slow(like Easy Mode in TexstSeek). TextSeek can prescan and search fast in Zone Mode.
