    Tuneskit says it needs a licensed email, what would that be?

    I tried posting this on the “product review” page, but it doesn’t appear. When I tried it again, it gives the error message: “Duplicate comment detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that!” Sigh…

    So I’m posting it here:
    =========
    I’m sure this is a fine product. But it’s a fail for me.
    When I click the “Add files” button, it opens a window called “iTunes Library.” There is no way to browse anywhere on the computer; it reads only what is in one’s iTunes folder. I don’t have iTunes, so that’s pretty useless.
    Back to the main program. The section where files are located (or would be located if any were found) says “Drag Audiobook files into this area.” I have a 1 GB AAX file from Audible.com, and the drag appears to go well: the mouse icon turns into a “+” as I drag and drop it into that box. But nothing happens. The file never appears.
    Program’s converting ability: presumably good.
    Program’s user interface: FAIL.

    I know, it’s good if you can read… However, I feel it should be mentioned more prominently that iTunes is absolutely required! By simply mentioning iTunes purchases among others (e.g. Audible), the program seems to suggest that it can “break” any DRM management, not just that by iTunes. If you have only Audible audiobooks and let Micro$oft manage the DRM, apparently you can NOT use this program. Too bad.

    Sorry Bruce, we made a mistake by answering other’s question under yours. Regarding the issue you mentioned, please be well noted that in order to convert the DRM-ed Audible audiobook as well as iTunes’, it will require you install the iTunes app on your computer. Otherwise TunesKit won’t work properly since the conversion and DRM-removing process will require the iTunes to play the audiobook files in background. We also modified our official website by mentioning that. Thanks for your understanding. [@Bruce Fraser]

    Hi, we are sorry for the misleading without clearly mentioning iTunes is required for the conversion. Thanks for your suggestion and we already updated our website by fixing that error. Besides, please be well noted that TunesKit DRM Audiobook Converter is capable of converting DRM-ed audiobooks purchased from iTunes store as well as Audible.com. [@SilenceIsGolden]

    So I have iTunes installed, TunesKit Audiobook Converter registered – and am trying to convert a 1:06h AAX (purchased) to MP3.

    You can drop any other audio file into the TunesKit windows outside from the iTunes library. For me, this would work. The file is shown in TunesKit Audiobook Converter.

    However, the conversion process is running for 2 hours now without any progress shown. No progress bar is shown.

    There is no converted file in the output directory. Does it take that long, or am I doing something wrong?

    Even Audials would be ready within this time.

    This is not a true converter program. It’s a play-and-record program. It uses iTunes to play the Audible .AA audio file, and in the process, creates an mp3 version of it. You must install iTunes. There’s no getting out of it.

    On December 20, 2013, SoS offered Aimersoft DRM Media Converter for free. It also required that iTunes play the Audible .AA audio file, which Aimersoft would convert only at the speed that iTunes could play it back. A conversion would take many many hours. Aimersoft’s latest version no longer supports Audible .AA audio files.

    In comparison, TunesKit is able to do this a whole lot faster. The free trial converted 3 minutes of audio in less than 5 seconds. It also preserves the book cover (which Aimersoft never did) if played in a computer multimedia player. I plan on forking out the 10 bucks for the lifetime upgrade.
