JohnGuestI am curious, rather than putting the PC to sleep, can you add a rule to where when a specific program is running that it prevents the PC from going to sleep?
Currently I am using the free “Don’t Sleep” for this purpose to prevent screensaver from activating and sleep, mainly for when I am watching streaming video on my browser or watching a video on my media player so that it doesn’t get interrupted by a screensaver or PC going to sleep. Although, with Don’t Sleep you have to manually turn it on and off to do this. That is why I was wondering if with this software it is possible to add a rule like that?
JohnGuestI see where you can set this to not sleep depending on CPU/DISK/NETWORK usage, but, I’m not quite sure in my case how you would define that because I’m looking at Taskmanger and it says my PC is currently using 1-2%.

Correction, I meant with Chrome 64 Bit browser running, although I see when watching a youtube video it varies in CPU usage between 5-9%, and when watching a Video using my media player it increases to about 4%, so I am assuming if I set it at 4% and use my browser to watch a streaming video and define the rule to not put my PC to sleep that it wont, same with watching a video in my media player.
I’m going to give it a try. Thank you!
MollieSoftGuest[@John] If you have an active schedule engaged, but you want to e.g. watch a video, you can always press the “Stay Awake” button with a setting of e.g. 1 hour; this will override any schedule for the next 1 hour and WinSleep will not initiate any action to sleep the PC for that period.
MollieSoftGuest[@MollieSoft] And once the 1 hour is past, the sleep schedule will resume automatically; or if the video ends, just press the “Resume Schedules” button yourself to do this.
MollieSoftGuest[@MollieSoft] Also, be aware that Windows itself may be configured to sleep or hibernate the machine due to inactivity; when using WinSleep, I recommend disabling the windows sleep/hibernate policy and just let WinSleep handle it depending on how you configure the schedules and policies.
AlGuestYou say in the Tech Details: “Supports Windows 8.1, and 10 (32-bit and 64-bit)”
Does it work with Win 7?
MollieSoftGuest[@Al] Sorry, it will not install or run on Windows 7. Unfortunately I depend on some features of Windows that are only present starting with 8.1. Perhaps you can upgrade to 8.1? :-)
JohnGuestThank You MollieSoft! I figured it out, I just needed to set the CPU % right and a few of the other selections, but it’s working perfectly without any extra interaction. Although I do like the Stay Awake option.
I must say, I like the idea of this better than having to define a rule for everything, the way I have it set pretty much seems to be working for if I watch my Media Player/Streaming Video/Listen to music, it won’t go to sleep, but if I just walk away from the PC it will put it to sleep after so many minutes of not using it. Very nice. I like this multi-rule setup, I can see this being real handy especially when downloading a large file and such, many many possibilities and uses and very easy to use once you get the hang of it.Thank you!!!
MollieSoftGuest[@John] Thank you for your kind words John! If you enjoy WinSleep, I would much appreciate it if you would post a review of WinSleep at any of the software review sites mentioned on my web page.
