Duplicate joeGuestThis is what I have been looking for all my life, a duplicate file finder! Even decades before my birth, people have been searching for a duplicate file finder. It even dates back to the 1800s, during the pioneer days. People needed a duplicate file finder back then, but do to a lack of computers, they were a little hard to come by. It is said that Christopher Columbus once had a vision of a duplicate file finder. He sent three of his men to find one, but they were never heard from again. So, finally, at last a duplicate file finder is offered here for fr
Sadeq AliraqiGuestthank you
ClairvauxGuest[@Duplicate joe] That was funny. However, believe it or not, some people have been looking for a duplicate file finder — for a hopefully limited part of their lives. I’m one of them.
I’m testing this one right now. A few remarks for the time being :
It’s high DPI non-compatible in a small and limited way, but still. The “Menu” menu (another small quirk) has a very tiny font, once the program has been set to high DPI mode by ticking the “Disable Display Scaling on High DPI Settings” box in “Properties”. The rest is OK, as far as I can see.
Also, the interface for selecting the folders to deduplicate is quite primitive.
GramorGuestI installed and tried the program and I am going to keep it.
I wanted to dedupe the folder where I download photos and videos from my camera. I opted for the slow exact match type.
I was distrustful at first as any photo/video gone would be irreplaceable. So I individually opened and compared about 100 of the about 5.000 duplicates found from the results page.
The results were accurate and all pairs or triples were exact copies although the file name could be different (depending on file naming according to the program I used to import them).
It was a bit disappointing that there was not any option to see large thumbnails in the results, but this is not so bad. The details had date created and date modified. Here it would be better to have a date shooted for example for photos, this was missing.
The program did however not detect duplicates that had been rotated eg. 90 degrees. But that is ok, better to err on the safe side. With some videos I realised that some files were with different extentions but were in the results page, it was mot the main video file eg.avi or mpeg4 but .ifo and .bup files, these I carefully unchecked after pressing keep one (the oldest) from the results screen.
So all in al,l it is a program that you can trust if you use exact match and if you take the time to check the results. Deleted files will be zipped for every delete operation as a backup to be restored in case of mistake to a folder in the C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Wise Duplicate Finder folder, but only to be restored by the program itself when needed.Marie FreemanGuestthank you very much for all that you share with us

lindaGuestThank you , just what I needed , really i did :)
Wayne From IndyGuestWorks very fast and easy. My only suggestion so far is it does not work with network attached drives or folders. Even though I selected a network attached volume, it seemed to strip off the front end network address (\\MyServer\V:) and just look locally for a volume called V.
MarcoGuestOttimo softowere
DaWnGuestHi!
Like to say Thank you for this software! Boy O boy this really helped me out
Huge time! Have a question though and hope someone can help me out with it.
I found A lot of these “desktop.ini” Would these be safe to delete them out and
off your PC? I am running Win7. I Did look that up as; desktop.ini and on the net
it said more or less its not wise to delete the desktop.ini. Would be great too, though.
Those have some huge MB’s that I would love to take out.
What does everyone else do when you find these as desktop.ini? Leave them alone?
Or delete them off your PC?
Thank you again And for any help on this, I’d sure would appreciate the help.xiloleeGuest[@DaWn]
Yup… Safe to remove, but I wouldn’t remove them from c:\windows.
They only contain “visual customization options” for folders/icons.JamesGuestExcellent duplicate file finder, has helped me get back disk space (lots) and keep my laptop cleaner and more organized. Thanks for a great product.
david collinsGuestI’ve loaded this program twice and each time it has completed the scan OK but when I ask to delete it just says Waiting and nothing further happens!
davidGuestThanks, Ashraf!
