I’ve been a looking for file/folder encrypter all day, and this was strongly included in my consideration. How in the world can the very software I want be offered here in less than 24 hours when I started needing and searching for it? I almost bought it, too. What are the odds? On top of that, it is not even offered as selfishware. I’ll pen the expression Trueware as meaning software offered with free updates and free technical support. Everyone game with that?

Sorry, but this is still one quirky and difficult program, at least under Win 10/64.

I used it once before, about 1 year ago, and almost lost a huge number of files and folders that I tried to hide before sending my laptop off for a major hardware repair. The “unhide” tool simply did not work, and eventually I had to manually locate the hidden files and wrestle with Windows to recover them one by one. Ugly. I used an archived copy of my hard drive to ultimately recover most of the missing folders and files. What a mess.

Just installed the latest version today to see if it behaves any better. It installs without error, but after launching and providing the password, the software does not do anything. No menus, no presence in task manager, etc. Won’t let me uninstall, either, telling me that I need to unhide any remaining files. The software has put me between a rock and a hard place. If there are still hidden files, it won’t let me see them, let alone unhide them (which I would LOVE to do!)

Weird and unpredictable. Bottom line: NOT a tool I will trust to protect my files.

That being said, I am a huge fan and user of most of the other Wise 365 tools. This one, though, is not for me.

Thanks, Wise and SharewareOnSale for providing software for us to try.

“hiding” a folder is done by a “filter driver”, too (as almost all of such software does).
If the driver is not loaded: you openly see the folder and its files: run Windows in safe(protected) mode or use Winows-PE or Linux.
But “Wise” at least offers additional encryption (which I didn´t test in strength of encrytion, nor searched for faults, weakness etc.).
With using this “double safety” it might be at least a safe(r) solution using both features together:
    – the “hidden” folder is not visible at first sight
    – IF the folder is found, its data content is not accessible (or at least only with a lot of extra effort).

For me it would be easier and sufficient to (safely!) encrypt my data.
And taking into account that this is only a time limited version, I would not like to have my data “protected” by them, thinking of the risk of deleted/lost/destroyed Software and/or ending working properly after the 12 months!`

This program is crap. Don’t even try to use it. Go to WiseCleaner and search for the review of this poorly coded amateurish program.

Do you lose access after one year?
Do you lose access if you lose the password(s)?
Wouldn’t it be easier to use a lifetime free encryption program and then
    use Windows hide procedure?

No initial password is given so it is not possible to use the program
