Reviews for Auto Data Backup Manager
A very basic file and folder backup utility. Reminds me of SyncBack, but without any of the options or features.
It is very good.
The Auto Data Backup Manager is a software for planning backup of files and folders at a specific time and day. It is an effective software, especially for people who work with highly important information on a daily basis. The software allows users to set up backup tasks at a specific time and in different repetition modes. Whether you want to save a copy of your data on an hourly, daily or weekly basis, this is the software to buy.
How to backup files using the Auto Data Backup Manager
Before installation, ensure that your computer is running on either Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10. You must also have .NET Framework 2.0, which is available on Microsoft’s website, installed.
After installation, there are actually very few settings needed to customize this software to meet your needs. First of all, choose a backup location, which can be your hard disk, another computer within the same network or an external flash or disk drive. The service runs by itself in the background and doesn’t require users to log in every time.
Software Features & Specifications
The Auto Data Backup Manager allows you to select only specific types of files that you can backup instead of choosing an entire disk or directory. It supports multiple backups at the same time, and you can add any number of files from different locations as well.
The data source is not your computer only –you can add files from a USB drive, networked computer or any other storage device. It is practically easy to setup a backup and the destination can be anywhere including another disk or a networked computer.
Accessing your files after a backup is also easy as it maintains its original file structure.
It is simple to set up a backup, especially due to its user-friendly GUI and automated backup.
Pros
The software provides an automated approach, which ensures that you never forget to back up your important files. It allows for choosing specific files and even maintains the directory structure for easy access of the saved files. You can schedule a backup on a future date and store it on any of the wide storage options that the software provides.
Cons
I find quite irritating that the software doesn’t provide an option to backup saved files online. This would protect cases of data loss in case your computer or all computers on the network were affected by a virus. Not much has been done about the security of the saved data, which is an issue that most offline backup service providers fail to address.
Conclusion
The Auto Data Backup Manager offers nothing new to those who are familiar with the backup software. Automatic backup is an exciting feature though you can achieve the same in software applications such as Dropbox, Microsoft Cloud, and Google Drive. Auto Data Backup will still leave you with two versions of the same file if you choose to store the backup on your computer. This is not feasible especially if you don’t have much space to spare on your PC.
