Reviews for Batch Image Enhancer Basic
I am usually excited when it comes to programs related to graphics and video. As such, it is always nice to check out new image modification software. In this case, I tried out Batch Image Enhancer. After a few days of using the program, here is what I found.
At a Glance
Provided your Windows version has the latest Dot Net framework, the installation will run pretty smoothly and fast. On each launch, you will get the Welcome window, which you can optionally disable. The main window has quite a lot of options that may take you time to get around.
Pros
Saves in Many Image Formats
When it comes to saving images in whatever image format I wanted, Batch Image Enhancer had me covered. Apart from the common and popular image file types like JPG, GIF, PNG, and BMP, you can use this program to save images in other formats. The additional formats include TIF, JNG, and J2K. however, you will have to contend with the missing ICO format.
Large Collection of Actions
The photo editing features in Batch Image Enhancer are called Actions, and there are quite a number. You can modify images by Resizing and Cropping, Rotating and Flipping, Change Opacity, add text watermarks, Add Artistic effects, apply color effects, and extra Adjustment options like Brightness, Exposure, Contrast, Vibrance and Gamma.
Handy Processing Settings
When it comes to images and modifying them, details can be important. Thanks to the Processing Settings of Batch Image Enhancer, which you can access from the bottom left side of the main interface, you can perform a whole lot of things. You can choose to Backup or delete the original image, Ignore Errors, and set the image attributes like Archive status, date created, modified and accessed, as well as choosing to Hide the modified image.
Cons
Clogged Interface
Although putting Batch Image Enhancer and Photoshop head-to-head would be an unfair comparison, one of the former’s shortcomings made me do so. While Photoshop is considered more professional and requires skills, Batch Image Enhancer does not provide the much required simplicity. The user interface is full of options, buttons and features in a rather chaotic outlay. As a result, using most of the features like Adjustments, Resizing and Rotating felt rigid and uninteresting.
Unresponsive Interface
Apart from being clogged, I further noted that Batch Image Enhancer’s interface was rather unresponsive. For instance, accessing all the options while applying a Watermark on the photos was not smooth. Options that would have let me choose the alignment, size and font of the text watermark were 90% hidden. As such, I used the trial and error approach to find my around this shortcoming.
Obstructive Overlay Details
I noted, right off the bat that Batch Image Enhancer lets you hover on a feature and it will let you know more about it with an overlay windows with details. At the start of using the program, the overlays were helpful. However, it did not take long before I found them too much. Almost all the options, features and buttons have overlay windows, which were quite obstructive.
Verdict
If you are looking for a program that can help you access a large collection of effects to apply to your photos, then you can consider Batch Image Enhancer. However, you will have to contend with its clogged interface and non-responsive window sections.
