La clasificicación CIE-9 es la novena edición de la clasificación y fue publicada en 1977 por la OMS (Organización Mundial de la Salud). La CIE-10 se empezó a desarrollar en 1992 para mejorar la CIE-9

En España La CIE-10-ES sustituirá a la CIE-9- MC como clasificación de referencia para la codificación clínica partir de enero de 2016 por lo que es necesario que todos los profesionales de la salud se familiaricen con los nuevos códigos CIE-10.

La aplicación Conversor CIE permite cuatro utilidades principalmente:

- Búsqueda de enfermedades por CIE10: Se permite una búsqueda de texto de una enfermedad y la aplicación muestra todas las posibilidades de las codificaciones CIE10 correspondientes.
