Description

NaNa: The Medical Sodium Calculator is an application designed to help healthcare professionals calculate a prescription to help treat their patients' hyponatremia (sodium level is below normal) or hypernatremia (sodium level is above normal).

You will need to know the patient's gender, weight, current and target sodium levels, and time frame of change. Then, this calculator will help you determine the optimal fluid type and quantity to correct hyponatremia or hypernatremia as desired.

Application requirements:
> A working mobile device (to get the application running)
> Patient data (to use in the application)

The screenshots show how to get an estimated prescription:
Step 1: From the main screen, click Start to begin.
Step 2: Next, on the input screen, insert your patient's data into the required fields. (This app does not require an internet connection, so there is no worry of confidential patient data being saved elsewhere or stored on the cloud.) Click continue when you are finished.
Step 3: NaNa will then calculate a projected prescription and display it below the summary of patient data (blue). Occasionally, warnings (red) may appear if the calculator detects an unrealistic or unreasonable change. If you do not see all of the text immediately, simply swipe below to see the rest of the prescription.
Step 4 (optional): Should you require proof that the numbers are indeed correct, the "Show Work" button on the bottom left of the Summary screen will direct you to the Work page, where the formulas are displayed.
Step 5: If you wish to try NaNa on a different patient, press "Restart" on the bottom right corner.

Please be advised that this calculator should not substitute clinical judgment, and that rapid change of [Na+] can lead to osmotic demyelination syndrome (ODS), central pontine myelinolysis (CPM), or cerebral edema.
