Reviews for Paragon Backup & Recovery 16
I have a number of Paragon programs and like them I cannot fault this and with time I doubt this will give any problems,Paragon is a name to watch out for, whether you pay or get free, look at it this way, this is free and all it takes is download, setup, try and if not happy just remove but I think you will keep this and try more of their software.
Paragon 2013 was/is my main go to app for image backups and restores because it works and its revocery CD works. This new 2016 version can create images over my network, but its slow and the only progress indication is very faint bar and percentage counter. I saw some writing under the bar, but it was so faint I could not read it. The restore CD is a disaster. You need to download and install WinPE 8, to create the .iso (no simple explanations provided by paragon). The when the CD boots it asks for the network info at boot time and I see my IP address and the correct DHCP server address, but when you want to restore from the backup image over the network it asks for a network name. What is the network name? I tried WORKGROUP, Ethernet, local none worked. So I went to another system, copied the image to an external hard drive and plugged it back in the system I was trying to restore. It would not recognize the external device until I rebooted from the CD. The reason I have liked Paragon is I can restore to a different size physical drive (even Smaller) and 2013 was very reliable with a CD that worked OK. That’s not so easy to find anymore, so I tried 2016. Other features might be good, but…
this is one of the best backup/recovery software for the computer; in case of hard drive crash or failure which you’re facing with a total loss of your system, you will feel relieved and happy that you’ve made a complete system backup image of your hard drive. With it the task of restoring your backup onto a new hard drive will be so much easier than doing it from scratch. Highly recommended!
I’ve been using it for years. Always reliable. Have done several ‘bare metal’ restores with it after drive failures, things always went well.
It is better to be safe than sorry. The statement is definitely true when it comes to safeguarding your important files and folders. Instead of waiting for a system failure or deletion, you can always opt to regularly backing up your files. After trying out different programs for that job and getting disappointed, I came across Paragon Backup Recovery 16. After using this program for some time, here is what I found out.
Overview
Downloading and installing Paragon Backup Recovery 16 is a breeze. However, you will have to follow several steps to get it registered. The steps are quite simple and easy to follow. The program has three main options at the top left side. Of the three, you will get to choose between the Main view and X-View. These views have additional options for backing, scheduling and restoring backed up data. Choosing between the views is a matter of taste and preference.
Pros
Easily Create a Backup Job
This feature in Paragon Backup Recovery 16 is particularly helpful if you have a lot of work and you might forget to back up your files manually. When you choose the Create backup job you will get its corresponding Wizard that will help you through the steps. The steps include naming your backup, choosing the source and target, and your preferred backup times.
Handy Backup Options
While scheduling for automatic backups for your system, you can choose between four Backup options. There is the Daily, On demand, Weekly and One backup. Although you choose the other options as you prefer, I found the Daily Backup to be more idea for me. That was the case because it provided the option of accessing up to the last 7 backups. The option also has an incremental backup type that can be helpful in using less computer resources as it runs.
Supports Network Storage
The other thing that impressed me while using Paragon Backup Recovery 16 is that it supports choosing a network storage target. In so doing, it means people who have a centralized network structure with a dedicated server for storing important information will find this program a good pick for their backup needs.
Easy Backup Restoration
Just like when manually or automatically backing up your files, restoring backed up data using Paragon Backup Recovery 16 is straight up easy. Regardless of whether you are using the Main view or X-View, you only need to follow the simple prompts of choosing the source, target and your preferred restoration options.
Exclude Certain Files from Backup
When in a company setting, it is important to only backup important files. Having said that, the Copy or Backup exclude options can be pretty handy when it comes to preventing certain files from backing up. Apart from the already existing filters, I was able to add a custom filter to prevent videos files from backing up alongside important files.
Verdict
If you are looking for a backup program that provides easy steps for the task, then Paragon Backup Recovery 16 can work for you. Its well-laid out options and an easy to understand interface is something that even novice users will find helpful. Therefore, it is a worthy download.

All well and good; but how do you register this s/ware if you can’t get a serial # asked for in the registration procedure?
Paragon Backup and Recovery 16 brings some sense to the rather complicated tasks of backing up data in a personal PC. Normally, you will have to remember move the file to an external drive or the cloud manually. We rarely create archives when using this approach. I’ve tried a couple of backup and recovery tools that automate and simplify the process and was quite excited when I lay my hands on Paragon Backup and Recovery 16.
First Impressions First
The ‘Main View’ and ‘X-View’ reeks of simplicity. I didn’t see anything that isn’t related to backing up data, or restoring it. Paragon took just seconds to load my partition and drive data. That’s quite impressive bearing in mind I’m running a 8TB array. This hints on some impressive speed and performance for the undeniably light-weight backup and recovery tool.
Pros
The All Important Virtual Mode
This is a savior when dealing with something that can delete or format an entire partition. Paragon Backup Recovery 16’s virtual mode let me toy with all the hard disks and partitions without actually committing anything till I am sure I did it right. Call me old school, but I like cross checking my work and Paragon lets me do it in style.
A Flexible Backup Creation Tab
Paragon Backup and Recovery gives you total control over whatever you wish to backup. You can choose to back up your entire system, a specific hard drive, a partition, a folder, files or specific file types. This is not only good for convenience but also ensures that you don’t create unnecessarily huge backups since you couldn’t filter out the junk you didn’t need.
The flexibility extends to where you want to store the backup. You can connect an external storage device that will be detected automatically or choose to send the backup to a virtual DVD writer that will create an ISO image. Quite neat if you want to immediately send your backups to the cloud.
Scheduled Backups and Accompanying Email Notifications
This is the most exciting aspect of this partition manager tool. The power to create a backup job, define how and when it should run and configure push notifications to your emails. I find this quite practical to someone who is too busy to do manual backups or someone who manages multiple PCs and would appreciate the frequent reminder on successful backups.
The great thing is the scheduling works like a charm and the email notifications happen. I tried shutting down my PC at around the scheduled time to see how the software deals with that and I was impressed when it began the backup first thing I switched the machine on.
A Handy Recovery Media Builder
This will get a system image and push it to a USB-flash drive in recovery media format. Quite useful if you are tired of formatting your PC and starting afresh whenever things go awfully wrong.
Cons
No Integrated Cloud Backup
This is my greatest quarrel with Paragon Backup and Recovery 16. It’s 2016. The cloud is the most convenient to store backed up data. Yes, I know I can copy the ISO files to my Dropbox or Google Drive folder, but why can’t I get automated integration?
Bottom Line
This is a great piece of software with all the backup and recovery options you’ll ever need just a click away. Its simplicity and the well-thought wizard will make backing up and recovering your data a breeze, even if you have never done it before. It is a great place if you just want pure backup and recovery and really don’t care about cloud storage integration.
