Reviews for Windscribe PRO VPN lifetime subscription
I love Windscribe – I’ve used the Pro version for years and was about to run out (got it on a crazy sale, like $17 / 2 years) so I was happy to see this. I didn’t get the Lifetime, I paid $24 for the 3-year subscription, and added it on to my current account very easily, just a single code to unlock.
Windscribe used to be fairly slow, but the speeds have increased dramatically the past year or so, as has the number of locations available. I love finally being able to choose between cities & not just regions like it was earlier on.
The speed is definitely adequate for me. I hardly ever experience any sort of noticeable slowdown, and I use the browser extension as well to double hop, and still load things fine, open multiple videos on YouTube, Netflix, etc. in Full HD without a hitch.
Plus the fact that they finally put out a Windscribe android / iPhone app is awesome. No more running connections through OpenVPN on android or using crappy phone VPNs. I can actually use my unlimited data, fast as hell Pro VPN.
They mask your IP pretty well. I’ve never had a DNS leak, afaik, when I’ve checked. I had someone mention earlier that they’re in the 5 countries that share data, but I’m positive that they don’t save any of your data (besides the email/pw you’ve provided them). They’re from Canada, btw, so to me that’s a positive.
A great deal (especially for the 3-year plan – I’d rather do that than lifetime) on a great product
(USE THE BROWSER EXTENSIONS AND THE PHONE APPS!!)
I quit posting any reviews or comments here for quite some time because they were just getting deleted. Don’t know why and don’t care.
I have been using Windscribe VPN for half a year and have been so impressed with it that I decided it deserved credit so here it is.
I haven’t had one problem with this VPN, every other one I’ve tried has annoyed the hell out of me with their instabilities.
Like all of them the server you use determines your speed, I almost always choose “best server” and the speed is fast (for a vpn). I have tried servers that are farthest from my location and they are still well usable.
Very easy to use. If your looking into a VPN they have a free version that you could try out to see for yourself.
As long as Windscribe keeps working the way it is I won’t ever be switching to another. If the people at Windscribe ever read this please don’t change it or slow it down or mess with it somehow like others I have used, leave it the way it is. It’s the first one I’ve been happy with.
Very impressed with ease of installation/setup and speeds delivered. I’d been thinking about adding VPN as an additional level of security & privacy for a while and had downloaded Windscribes free VPN to try having read some decent reviews of the free, limited service. When I saw the lifetime offer for <$50 (c£38) for the Pro version I had no hesitation in purchasing as you can pay this per annum to other VPN providers offering comparable services so if service levels were not maintained longer term I’d be no worse off.
For the record I have pretty fast VirginMedia broadband connection with download speeds of c110Mbps without VPN which falls (as you’d expect) to a very creditable 88Mbps using Windscribe. Upload speeds remain pretty constant with or without VPN at about 6Mbps.
Recommended.
Much slower than regular internet service.
Using this professional version, just checking my emails, my computer with 4X processor, was at a crawl speed.
Checked with speedtest: sometimes down to 1 Mbyte!
With Windscribe pro off, speedtest went up to normal speed. Of course, this varies with the time of day, but never is Windscribe up to regular speed.
This is a new company, so I am positive that it will soon fix these issues soon.
Windscribe PRO VPN has Terrible crawl speed!
I bought the pro version and tried downloading a movie. It was miserably slow even after a few hours the download was not finished, so I speedtested it and the results were between 0.15Mbps and 0.5Mbps at the most. I tried various locations and the results were the same. Then I switched it off Windscribe PRO VPN and my download speed tested at a normal 14.88Mbps even while downloading. Then I tried another VPN service that is free and it downloaded an amazing 15Mbps – faster than my internet provider.
So, I compared the Windscribe PRO VPN
1. with my regular internet provider
2. with a free limited VPN provider
This proved to me that it was not my computer, and not my internet service that was at fault.
What gives here? Why is this expensive Windscribe PRO VPN so slow. Even after stopping any streaming and downloading, this Windscribe PRO VPN program was still hardly able to surf the internet. I want my money back, but the seller says all sales are final. What to do? Can they actually sell faulty products?

Update
After contacting Windscribe, they offered several things for me to try. Stealth mode, UDP, and TCP. It turns out that using the UDP mode, which turns off a safety extra connection, was faster. However, this mode does have the risk that the connection can be suddenly interrupted and all data you are sending or receiving will be lost.
Turns out that this mode speeded up my Megabytes, but still for some reason the speed would drop down quite a bit. Also using a different server, even in a different country could speed up the connection.
So this VPN does now work mostly OK. If I were to get a top service such as NorthVPN or EarthVPN, I would be paying many times more, so I will stay with Windscribe until I get rich.
I am using the limited free version (offered here a month ago) currently, good for a lifetime of 60GB/month, with a very limited number of VPN servers available. That’s really all the VPN I need for now, but I’m still experimenting with the concept.
Pros: Works reasonably well if you manage your expectations. I don’t care if snoops think I’m in Latvia or on the other side of town here, I just don’t want my actual IP to be showing. My use is not about hiding from the authorities – anyone who thinks U.S. Federal law enforcement won’t be able to find you if they want to, VPN or not, is delusional.
The closer the server you (or they automatically) select, the faster your speeds will be. I have 120/12 service, and using a server in my state gets me close to 90/10 through the VPN, which is more than good enough for me.
Cons: I just have one. When the VPN is turned on and active, it uses roughly 15% of available CPU resources on my older i7 2600K. That’s a LOT of resources and raises my CPU temperature more than I like. And it’s VERY reluctant to release them when I set the VPN to bypass mode. I often have to shut it down, even in bypass mode, before it releases the CPU. I don’t like that very much – kinda sloppy coding which always makes me wonder where else in the program that issue exists.
Summary: A decent VPN if you want to play with the concept and see if paying for the service is worthwhile for you. I think the 60GB a month for life deal is gone now, but as of this review they do have a free 10GB/mo somewhat limited version you can download and try. If the idea of (sometimes) using a VPN appeals to you, this is a good place to start. And if you like it, the current offer of $50 for lifetime use of the Pro version is pretty good.

So it’s been a year since I posted my review, and I wanted to modify it as follows:
The CPU issue is gone. Whether it’s because I upgraded my machine to a current motherboard/processor, or went from Win7 to win10, I don’t know. But it no longer hogs CPU resources on my machine while running or in standby.
Speeds continue to be impressive using a relatively local server. And one nice feature I didn’t mention in the first review is that its built-in firewall allows restricting Internet access while allowing local network access to shared drives and resources on other machines.
I’ve had a few small issues over the year, but Windscribe support has been extremely responsive and helpful, especially considering I’m using a free version of the program.
After a year of free 60GB/month, I like it enough now that I’m going to pay for a yearly Pro license for it.
I am delighted with this VPN and very grateful to SOS for including it here.
Thanks Ashraf for the excellent offeres here:) Have a great year ahead.
The Windscribe support I found to be excellent with a very fast response time. Surfing speeds for me are above average. I found connections to be stable with no drops. Even if there was drops, the firewall offers an extra layer of protection.
There is a good choice of servers also. Googling reviews from different VPN current lifetime offers, this one is more positive then most. I also used the Windscribe Firefox extension.
The interface is user friendly for those new to VPN.
Currently (only recently) am on and using a free 1-year offer for the Windscribe VPN service, and I’ve been impressed by it (ease of installation, ease of use and behavior, and data speed), based on limited use. In the end, once I turn the VPN service on (a quick button click on a Notification area application–connection modifications can be made there as well, if one wants; and if the VPN service has not yet been opened and signed in on during the current PC session, before turning the VPN connection on, you simply need to open the application and sign in (if you haven’t set the software to do that automatically), also a simple button click), it’s as if my PC is as it always has been–websites appear quickly and I don’t notice any time lags, including in watching Youtube video. Again, this is based on limited usage, but hopefully this is indicative of the service.
Also, with regard to the current Windscribe VPN lifetime offer: I emailed Windscribe as to whether this is for the Pro version of the service and for unlimited monthly data, and it wrote back, within minutes (indicative of good service?), “Hi, Yes its for the Pro subscription that is unlimited and has access to all servers.”

Do note one “limitation” of the lifetime license: per the offer page, you need to submit a request at the end of 10 years, for another 10 years of coverage.
Finally, upon experimentation, Windscribe does not impede with or prevent torrenting, either downloading or uploading, apart from torrent connections needing to be automatically re-established upon starting or stopping Windscribe if torrenting is already in progress.
I’m on a similar deal and agree with what both you and Mr-chumbles say about Windscribe. Its been a great service, very easy to download, install and use. Unlike another VPN I’ve been trying out that I got through SOS which has been awful because they’re constantly changing things and the keys for OpenVPN, Windscribe has been consistently usable. That is apart from since my ISP did some recent ‘updates’ which I’m sure at aimed at blocking VPN use, I can still use this service but I have to switch the settings from time to time.
If you have a different version of Tap-windows installed to the one that Windscribe uses, maybe because you use another VPN too, Windscribe does not like it so you have to change the Tap-windows version installed.
I am curious as to your data speed when using Windscribe VPN. You seem satisfied.
Like you, I also downloaded the pro lifetime version and am experiencing only 118Kb/sec to about 500Kb/sec or 0.5Mb/sec. It seems that as soon as I start downloading P2P, the speed gets throttled. I tested the speed using Speedtest. …. today I was able to get a little higher. As soon as I turn off Windscribe and download the same material, my speed jumps up to what my internet provider always gives me.
OVERVIEW:
I’ve been using this VPN for s few weeks now and it does exactly what it says on the tin providing robust security with the open VPN protocol being used as standard.
P2P/ Fileshsharing:
If you are an avid torrenter then you will like this VPN as P2P traffic is allowed on not just some but all of their servers. DNS leaks are covered as part of their service too plus they also offer a zero log policy. Last but not least they have one of the best kill switches in the business which in reality is modified firewall.
BROWSER EXTENSION & CLIENT:
Windscribe’s desktop client and extension both have very simple user interfaces allowing you to operate the vpn without any fuss.
Not only can you use either or independently but you can also use them both together creAting a double hop (their words) giving you double Encryption and privacy.
SIGN UP:
Registration is simple, all you have do do is create a username and password which is to be used in the client area. You do not even have to provide an email address unless you want to?
CONCLUSION:
A really good VPN which I’d only going to get better. Windscribe is a fairly new VPN provider but by the looks of things they’ll easily keep up with the big boys adding new functions/ servers etc. Their normal prices are a bit on the expensive side so while it is being offered with 91% off I’d grab it whist I could.

I’ve been using Windscribe for a few weeks also (got ithe 50G free plan here) and also am very impressed! I tried SurfEasy last night and used 50mg without ever connecting to a web site! That’s when I decided to go for the paid Windscribe! When I saw this offer today I got excited to purshase it.
In your review, you don’t mention the download speeds while using Windscript pro. I downloaded the pro lifetime version and am experiencing torturous slow speeds, it takes hours to download anything. The worst I was getting was 118Kb/sec to about 500Kb/sec or 0.5Mb/sec. It seems as soon as I start downloading P2P, the speed gets throttled. Is that standard policy for VPN providers? I tested the speed using Speedtest. …. today I was able to get a little higher. As soon as I turn off Windscribe and continue download the same material, my speed jumps up to what my internet provider always gives me.
What speeds do you get?
