Reviews for Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO
I don’t want to repeat what has already been said about this software. The two in-depth reviews are through effort and are more less to the point. Mind you, some of the ‘cons’ mentioned are either nit picking or I have not been able to reproduce them myself.
The software itself is decent enough and did what it advertised.
Would I recommend it? Yes. If only I have not yet come across anything better. The give away is well worth it.
Would I buy it: I certainly toyed with the idea $14.95 US (or $22.37 NZ) seemed reasonable enough but the other con’s mentioned in the two in-depth reviews swayed me enough to put such a purchase off for a wee bit at least.
This is better for tracks in your collection that don’t have ANY tags assigned to them. If your collection is mainly complete and you just want to add missing info, or correct some incorrect fields, this software is not for you.
1. It appears to only use one source for tag info. If that source is incorrect, so will your tags be incorrect. If there is no tag info, then that’s what you get.
2. Of the 50 (or so) tracks for which I attempted to resolve incorrect tags, I had to delete the specific tags before it would populate with the correct info.
3. This did an excellent job of obtaining lyrics for virtually every file.
4. I don’t find the interface cluttered – this is common among MP3 taggers. What I have a problem with is that the glyph images for the tool buttons aren’t very intuitive. I have to hover over the button for the tool tip to tell me what it does.
5. If you want to preview the MP3 file, you can’t just play it after selecting it – there are extra steps involved to add it to the player’s list at the bottom.
6. I don’t know what the refresh button does on the folder tools menu (on the left side) – I had to go to add the same folder again after I added tracks to my music folder in order for the files to be added to the catalog for processing.
Overall, it’s not a bad tagger, but it isn’t for me. I’m continuing my quest for the best tagger because it isn’t this one.
I disagree with some of the comments above. On my PC both the left and right channels can be clearly heard in headphones or speakers using the built-in player. I don’t find the interface to be cluttered. If you don’t like all the icons, or the player window, they can be turned off. If you don’t want so many columns in the list display, change it to meet your needs.
The song position slider is broken on longer files – works fine on a single song, but a single MP3 with an entire album or concert simply does not work. You can drag the slider to the right but when you let go it snaps back to the left, landing on one of several seemingly random places near the start of the file.
I like how quickly it finds lyrics, but when I tell it to Cancel and not save the lyrics, it pops up something about downloading and saving the lyrics. Not sure if does save them, or if the logic behind the button is backwards.
I had a LOT of trouble trying to install this new version over a previous SOS giveaway from February. A message appeared saying it couldn’t move the main program exe file into the destination folder because there’s already a file there with the same name. I didn’t want to uninstall the old one and potentially lose my database, so I installed in a new folder. It started up with a new database but I was able to find the old one and load it instead. I wanted to get rid of the older installation but Windows no longer shows it in my list of programs to uninstall. So I uninstalled the new version, went to the folder for the old version and ran the uninstaller from there. No errors but folders and files from both versions remained. I tried to delete manually but Windows would not allow it until I rebooted my PC. I reinstalled the new version and it seems to be working ok.
I still don’t know how it handles offline collections, like on an external hard drive that is not always connected to the PC. I moved some files on my hard drive and it kept then in the list but could not play them. When I went to the “Computer” window and said to load in the files from the new location, everything was updated properly. That leads me to think an external drive would work, songs would be playable when the drive is connected.
Overall it seems to work ok, though it’s not always obvious how to do things. Much better than some of the other media managers I have tried!

Sept 2019 update: Installed new version 25.50 into same folder as previous version, had no errors or issues at all this time. Program launched and registration was already completed. Haven’t looked into any new features yet, but installation is much better. Thanks SOS and Zortam!

It is very difficult to have a large collection of music files, that has correct title and artist names, album covers, and other data about them. Finding correct title, names, and album covers is not easy at all, and it takes a lot of time and efforts.
Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO is an MP3 management tool, designed to help users to play their music files, edit ID3 tags, and organize the music files on your PC.
Overview
The installer size is only ~22MB and the installation process is simple and quick, and does not have much to itself. Upon launching the application, it asks you to select what areas to scan for Mp3 files. After you are done importing your music collection, you can add various types of data to each song, which is attached to the music file and can be then viewed in any audio player you load the music files in.
Pros
Simple UI
This application comes with a simple and plain UI, and anyone can get used to it in a short time. On the left-side is your Mp3 library, from where you can access the Mp3 files that you’ve added to the application. The list in the middle lists all your Mp3 files and shows information like artist, title, album, genre, year, track number of each song. This tool shows the advanced info about the files too like volume, bit rate, sample frequency rate, length, mode, comment, file size, path, URL, composer, original artist, and others.
Automatic and manual tagging
Automatic tagging feature searches and extracts data from the Internet and assigns it to the songs in your library. This tool was able to detect most of the songs and provided correct tags for them, however it did struggle a bit with a few songs especially the ones that are not famous.
Manually editing the tags isn’t that difficult too, you can add information like composer, the artist, the album, the genre, the release year, the original artist, the publisher, copyright data and so on.
Moreover, this tool is compatible with both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags, allowing fast copying, editing and deletion of tag details. You can also search album covers and add lyrics of the song to the tags.
More than just a tag editor
It has a built-in music player which can be used to play music from within the application, this can be very helpful in case you can’t recognize songs because of missing title and other tags.
Moreover, you can perform volume normalization, audio conversion and CD ripping. This tool also comes with a YouTube to Mp3 converter, which allows you to search, select, and download Mp3 files.
Cons
YouTube to Mp3 converter needs work
This tool only searches video from the YouTube and nothing else, when I try to watch the video or download it as Mp3 it gives me an error everytime. Moreover, the video search should display thumbnails too, so it’s easy to recognize the videos.
Stops responding during tag editing
This tool stopped responding for a few minutes when I tried to batch edit the tags of a few Mp3 files. It even got stuck while trying to edit tags of a single Mp3. It does start functioning normal after the tag has been edited but still it can be very annoying.
Conclusion
Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO is a reliable application that can be used to create, manage, and organize different music collections with no limitation of the size. This tool comes with other handy features, of which a few do not work well, but others work smoothly.
Failed to import the iTunes library after two separate installs, removals and reinstalls. Not worth the effort
Other people may find this program useful, but I don’t. I’m a plug-n-play guy. In comparison, this is a complicated program which requires the user to jump through a whole lot of hoops before you can do anything with it. You cannot just drop MP3 files into it. First, you have to create a .ZOR library. I’ve yet to figure out how to add mp3 files into it. This program is not user friendly. Yes, the UI is cluttered. I’m uninstalling it. Thanks anyway.
I just tested this on 12 mp3 files that had the wrong name in the filename. I used autocorrect and it added the correct information for the name and artist. The album information was not always added correctly, but because someone gave me these files, it may not be the program’s fault.
Overall, I was impressed.
Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO’s claim to fame is that it is the best auto MP3 tagging application. Such a claim isn’t convincing enough until you check out its description with a list of other features it brings on board. If you are visual aspect enthusiast like me, then the program’s feature to add album arts by searching the internet will draw your attention. Find out what I noted about this software.
Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO at a glance
With minimal options during the installation phase, you will be ready to use the program after a few minutes. Right away, I noted its UI is reminiscent of an audio editing software. If you were expecting an intuitive and modern UI, then this interface will disappoint you even before you get into the thick of using Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO’s features.
Pros
Search for duplicate files
Rightfully so, Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO comes in handy in managing your MP3 files. To avoid having duplicate files, go ahead and use the Search for duplicate files option. Afterward, you can delete such files to keep your library neat and less redundant.
Autotag and cover art finder options work
If you are running out of time but would like to appropriately tag your audio files, then this program will have you covered. Just click on the Autotag option at the top bar and you will be done. In case your files do not have any album artwork, go ahead use the cover art finder to get the job done.
Additional ID3 tag editing options
Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO provides additional options that you can use to tag your audio files in batches. Just choose the correct format of ID3 tag and proceed with the batch process.
Cons
Plays songs from the beginning after pausing
In addition to offering a ton of options and features regarding MP3 tagging and detail editing, Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO is also a player. However, the experience wasn’t close to what I expected. Clicking on the Play button after Pausing causes the current song to play from the start. That approach was odd from what you would expect from conventional players.
Audio output via only one channel
After using Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO for several days, I noted that it outputs audio via only one channel. Using a pair of headphones will help you notice this shortcoming easier than via your computer’s speakers. Clearly, this bug further dents this program’s image as a music player.
Clustered user interface
Although ths program focuses on MP3 tagging and ID3 Tag editing, it falls way short of anything close to delivering an intuitive user experience. Instead, you will have to contend with the clustered UI as you go on with your editing.
Conclusion
Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO has a clustered UI that makes it less interesting to use. Its cons may also discourage you from using this program. However, the other features that it presents work pretty smoothly. You can give it a try.

Haven’t fully reviewed but regarding Melvin’s problem using the pause button causing the playback to restart from the beginning of the file; pressing the pause button a second time resumed playback from where the file was paused for me.
However I too only have playback through the right speaker channel. I don’t know if this is being blended to make a mono signal or only playing one channel but playback for me only comes through the right channel.
Thanks for the program
Hello Melvin,
You sad that program has a “Clustered user interface”. Please explain your point. As I see program has a great program interface with docking windows that you can resize, dock, hide etc.
Thank you,
Zortam
Zortam MP3 media studio is a powerful software that helps you tag, preview, and identify unknown songs. It comes in handy to anybody who would like to sort out their music files and create a complete collection with tags, album cover, lyrics, and any other information.
User interface
Once you’ve fired up the application, you’ll be met with a pretty cluttered interface with an MP3 library on the left and a directory tree on the right. The top section features a double menu that you’ll use for editing and getting the cover art and videos. There is an existing media player that is displayed at the bottom and a section for adding lyrics and editing cover art.
Functionality
Use the popup box or the directory tree on the left side to navigate to a drive containing your music and Zortam MP3 media studio will detect the files and automatically populate them. It only detects mp3 files.
Easily edit the tags on your mp3 files by clicking on the edit tag options on the top menu, fetch a video from YouTube, find related content including cover arts online, and build playlist. You can also view more information about the files and create reports. If your music files aren’t named properly and it becomes hard to locate a song, simply double click on it to play.
You can add the tags either manually or automatically, where the latter needs an internet connection to find various mp3 tags.
Apart from its tagging capability, Zortam MP3 media studio also provides information like the volume normalization, track analysis, audio conversion, CD ripping, and lyrics book creation.
Pros
• Automatic tagging
• Comes with ID3v1 and ID3v2 for fast copying, editing and deleting of the tags
• Manual tagging available too
• Allows front to back album covers on songs
• Categorize music with the genre, artist, or other tags
• Easily create a lyrics book
• Audio conversion option
• CD ripping
Cons
• cluttered UI
Conclusion
Zortam MP3 media studio provides a variety of tagging options that everyone who want to tag mp3 will find useful. Although the user interface looks cluttered, the software performs exceptionally.
