I did end up with the new version 3.0 but it still says 1yr . I just don’t know if it is a year from yesterday or a year from a few months ago when I installed the previous version. Too bad the registration had to be such a problem as this is a good program I’ve used in the past.

Like netexplorer, I met exactly the same problem. I think I will avoid in the future the softwares from SharpNight company if the license registration process is not simplified.
    Have a good day.

Like others here, I, too, had problems installing 7-Data, even though I am fairly good at figuring out most pc tech problems…. Tried to clean up old version: I used Revo Uninstaller and iObit Uninstaller as well as searched registry for 7-Data Recovery Suite and Sharpknight for any fragments. Also used CCleaner. Rebooted. Reinstalled. and STILL no place to enter the registration info sent to me. Time is running out and I kick myself for spending so much time on this. What should have been remedied with all of my diligent cleanup chores wasn’t. I wasted too much of my weekend on this. I have no idea what quick fix will help me now. Jumped through hoops for nada. Stuck with old version, I presume. I would have liked to have had the lifetime version, since I can’t afford to purchase it. Already spent too much on software this year. Sad part is, you never know when you start out with a deadline you’ll run into these difficulties and waste your time. Glad part is, most of the software offered here doesn’t lead to these deadends.

    Hello, Charlie.

Please remember I’m nowhere near “expert”.

I ran “regedit”, searched for “7 data recovery”, Windows found a folder named “Kungsoft” that listed both “7DataRecoverySuite” and “data recovery”; none of those had quotes on them.

I deleted the folder that had three items in them: another site’s name and registration code, and a (value not set) line.

Collapsed the tree, opened and registered the program, checked the tree.

Lucky. I hope. lol. As of now, I’m still ok. I’d hate to lose the SoS lifetime use because I tried to make it easier for me.

Hope that was clear to you, and acceptable to SoS/Ashraf. If not, hope I’ll be warned and not banned!

    Thank you again, everyone.

I missed the email I was supposed to use. Trying again, it was successful.

    Thanks for your patience.
    Again, My Apology.

[@Louis] I think you need some coffee. You are trying to register 7-Data Recovery Suite with registration information for Aimersoft DRM Media Converter…

Uninstalled completely, it’s not worth the trouble.

The dev obviously doesn’t know what is being sent out by their own software. The software I received was version 3 and the registration information is not what they say it is (according to the email I quoted), and it refers to version 1.5.5.

Then I get a comment like “What licensed email? You were given a name and key to register with. Use them :-)” – but when I respond with what I received in the email, I get no further reply.

That would be a thumbs down from me. I don’t respond well to wise cracks from someone claiming I received something I did not receive.

    Thanks anyway.

Toprol, could you share specifically what you found in the registery and what you deleted? Thanks

    Hello Everyone.

I also had a previous version of the program with a one year license and wanted to both upgrade and extend.

Set a System Restore point. My hope was that installing this version (3.0) over the old (2.3) would wipe out the registration due to the no-upgrade policy. No luck. Showed the new version, but still the old one year license.

Looked at the Registry and found the old entry. Deleted it. Opened the program again, it was not registered.

Used the SoS registration information, opened the program, showed Registered Home 3.0, as Ashraf said, looked in the Registry, the new information was there.

I’m never one to muck around in the Registry, but took a chance deleting one entry this time. Lucky.

It’s not for everyone, but worked for me this time, and saved all of the uninstall-reinstall-everything routine.

Also, this version does not look like the screenshot here on the SoS page. Instead of four choices, there are five in this newer version. The new one shows Android Recovery as well.

Thank you SharpNight, SoS, and previous comments.

[@Charlie] Charlie, what I did was to use the free iobit uninstaller ( to uninstall and remove all traces of the previous version of the program from my PC. Then I reinstalled this program following Ashraf’s instructions, and it worked just as advertised. Hope this works for you.

I beg to differ with you. I used what I was sent. I was NOT sent a “name”.

Product name: Aimersoft DRM Media Converter
    Version: 1.5.5
    Licensed e-mail:
    Registration code: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
License type: Single-User Personal License (Giveaway)
    License number: 1

Now, please tell me where I can find a “Name” in that?

  16. Ashraf

(Mr. Boss) – Reply to this comment#39

[@Frank D] Glad to hear it worked!

[@Charlie] Maybe Frank can help you out and tell you what he did to get rid of the 1-year version.

[@Louis] What licensed email? You were given a name and key to register with. Use them :-)

Maybe I’m stuck with the one year version. I did have an older version on my machine, I uninstalled and ran software organizer which is supposed to find all traces but when I reinstalled the new version it still said 1yr license

I received only “licensed email” which contains no spaces. And registration number, also no spaces. It does not work for me, sorry..

[@Ashraf] Ashraf, I found that with a previous installation of this program on my PC, I had to fully uninstall it (as you recommended) in order to show the “Register” link at the bottom of the program interface. Once I opened that and entered the registration information, the program registered and it shows as the full (not 1-year version that I had previously) version. So the trick was not to have a previous version of this program on my PC before installing this new version. Thanks!

[@HOODY] If it says 7-Data Recovery Suite Home 3.0 in the title bar and does not say 1-year, then it is a lifetime license.

  22. Ashraf

(Mr. Boss) – Reply to this comment#33

[@Patrick McAteer] [@Patrick McAteer] [@Charlie] There should be a “Register” link at the bottom of the program. If you don’t see the link, look at the title bar of the program window. Does it say 7-Data Recovery Suite Home 3.0 or does it say 7-Data Recovery Suite Home 3.0 Free? If it says 7-Data Recovery Suite Home 3.0, then the program is already registered for you — you probably downloaded a 7-Data Recovery Suite Home freebie in the past and this giveaway took that previous registration.

[@Louis] Registration works just fine. Please make sure to enter the name/code properly, exactly as shown — including the space.

[@Frank D] The program is not pre-registered, you have to enter registration information. Our giveaway is of a LIFETIME license, not a 1-year license. I think what happened to you is, you downloaded 7-Data Recovery Suite Home from a giveaway of a different website that did 1-year and now our giveaway took that previous registration. You will have to uninstall 7-Data Recovery Suite Home, run CCleaner, and try to get it to unregister so you can re-register with the registration info we gave you.

  23. Charlie

    Reply to this comment#32

How do you enter the registration information?

  24. HOODY

    Reply to this comment#31

My just says 7 data recovery home 3.0, is that what you mean?

I don’t see a “about” where you can see if its reg and the SN and if it’s a year or lifetime.

The reg name and SN they sent did work though to reg it.

  25. Louis

    Reply to this comment#30

Sorry, won’t accept the provided registration information. NOT good.. sure won’t buy it.

  26. Frank D

    Reply to this comment#29

    Two things:
    1. There is no place to enter the registration information. Is it pre-registered or not?
    2. The title bar of the program shows “1 year” — not “lifetime.” The blurb for this program says “lifetime.” Which is it?

[@Gil] Virus Total detection ratio shows 0/48 for the setup.exe. Sophos is a part of Virus Total’s detection so I don’t see why it would block the download as malware? When I downloaded it I didn’t get a “peep” from either Malwarebytes Pro or Avast.

[@BearPup] Bro, you’ve been around the giveaway scene long enough to understand updates typically come with purchases but not with giveaways. What we say on this website is what applies to each giveaway.

    [@santuzzu] Welcome!

[@Jack] [@j] You are asked to register it when you run it. If you installed it in the past, registration from another giveaway was probably accepted. If it does NOT say (Unregistered) in the title, then it is registered. If you want to register it with the code we gave you, uninstall the program, run CCleaner’s register cleaner, restart your computer, and then try again.

    [@iliass] Glad you like it!
