My English is not good enough to understand a software’s license agreement, EULA, or something like that. So usually I skipped those. When I installed this software though, I read the license agreement for a change. Surprisingly, I can understand most of the points! However, there is one point though, that I don’t really understand. Can someone translate it in to a more simple English, please? Here is the point that I’m not sure of, from the license agreement:

“3.7 In the event that you produce and provide to FXHOME any text or images (“the Material”) from the use of the Software you hereby agree to release any intellectual property rights which you may have in the material to FXHOME and expressly authorize FXHOME to use the material in any manner or for any purpose whatsoever.”

If we produce a video using HitFilm Express, is that mean that FXHOME also own the video? Can we use this software to produce a commercial video?

@ j cohen: If you have checked all your browser settings for pop up blockers and blocked scripts, etc, etc and also Your PC UAC (user account settings) (don’t know about Macs, sorry), and your anti virus, adblock, anti malware etc, etc software…and then you used a proper email account (I used a gmail account with no problems) Then I think there might be something you’re missing somewhere. All of the suggestions have been posted as to what could be stopping it. If you haven’t received the email from HitFilm 2 company with the “confirm and download” link, then the issue may be your email that you are using. If it isn’t in your inbox or your junk folder, then Try a different email company.
Once you click on that link in the email, it brings you to a page that shows you your confirmation, license key and download link. However, that page is also a bit odd. (To me) It is layered and if you scroll down, using your mouse wheel (which you really don’t have to!) it will show you something else, as if it changed pages…so just scroll back up to get back to your info. (I thought I was screwed and lost the page, but It’s just a weird layout they have.)
I don’t know what else to suggest. I know it is frustrating as hell to have tried everything with no success. It has happened to me before too, but it’s usually me missing a small detail somewhere, like allowing scripts on the page. But for you, it seems like an email issue. (from what I am reading in your posts). Good luck and I hope you get it figured out. I’m just not sure what else to suggest to help you.

Here is a Suggestion to those having problems installing and registering HitFilm 2 Express: BEFORE downloading anything, PRINT out Ashraf’s instructions and number each step, then carefully complete each step in exactly the order he gives [and the instructions from the developer FXHOME/HitFilm]
There are 2 ‘registrations’: First ONE is with the FXHOME/ HITFILM website and the other is registering the software once you get the license code.
Also, Download the install file from the website registration screen and use it to install the program once you get your license code. It is a slightly newer version than the install exe file download given in the SOS order receipt. That’s what I did and it worked fine. I didn’t try to install the SOS file so maybe that is why some people are having trouble.
Anyway, if enjoy working on videos this is a must have program. Hope the above info helps someone.

[@SOS_2118273962] The install and registration process is somewhat different for this software than for most others offered here or on other giveaway sites, You must follow the instructions in exactly the sequence given. If you do then you should be able to get it installed and register without difficulty.. just have to ‘jump through a number of hoops’, Hope you will give it another try… It is worth it if you are at all interested in video production. Forget my question. Once I clicked on the Twitter button on the free page, without actually sending out a tweet, it finally brought up a registration screen. Oh, well. It didn’t occur to me, at the time, that it would be necessary to fake out their system by acting as if I was going to tweet their software, or do a Facebook post, in order to get to the registration screen (I guess this is what I get for doing this so late in the night after a long day). On another note, the second installer provided after I clicked the link (by selecting open in a new tab) from my e-mail actually installed correctly, whereas the downloaded installer from SoS did not. Also, the first time I invoked the software and clicked on “activate,” it asked me to tell it where to find the license file, which we aren’t provided. After shutting down and restarting it, then clicking on activate again, I was finally able to put in the license key they sent to me, along with my e-mail and account name info. Ashraf, you may want to suggest to this company that they not only reconsider their obtuse “free registration” website page, but also how they go about dealing with the in-app registration process. It will only make it easier on all of their future customers, whether from SoS or through their own sales.

Am I the only one who is having a problem with the HitFilm 2 Express offer? For the last two days, I have tried to download this package several times, and have received an installation error each time I installed the x64 software installer, as well as failing to find any registration option on the “free” page that the link provided on the download page invokes. If you need to see the error from the installer, let me know and I can send it to you as a screen grab (.jpg file). As far as the registration, can you provide me with a better page? Nothing that I have tried seems to bring anything up, no matter which browser I use for the site link.

Thanks for this excellent professional level software. It installed exactly per Ashraf’s instructions and FXHome email and link/ screens directions. You just have to go step by step and pay attention to what is on the screen.

Out of curiosity at the License screen I clicked on the ‘DOWNLOAD’ button. AS it turns out that install exe file had a slightly higher version number [2.0.2522.461468] than the one I downloaded from SOS. I choose to install the higher version number. It accepted the license code and gave message ‘Activation Successful” “All restrictions have been removed” .

This is an awesome program.. Professional enough that SONY includes it in their own Movie Studio 13 Suite. Thanks again Ashraf for finding this giveaway. SOS and dotTech are a great resource.

[@AnAceBuyer] Thank you for the kind words, and I do apologize for snapping at your earlier. Sometimes I get ticked off at people who don’t read directions but come to complain as if they have been wronged somehow by us offering a freebie. However, my annoyance was misguided at you, as I obviously misjudged you as the people who not only want free cake but want to be fed it too.

In my defense, however, my directions we not wrong. No where in the directions did I say they email you the serial key. I say: “Now check the inbox of the email address you registered with. look for an email from — there is a link/button in the email you need to click. Find the email and click the link/button. (Be sure to check junk/spam if you don’t see the email.). After you click the link/button in your email, you will be taken to HitFilm’s website and given your license key. Copy the license key and keep it in a safe place.”

#45, you are way off base, buddy. Ashraf is doing a very decent service here, aggregating free and discounted offers from around the web. Fatwallet, Slickdeals, AppsGoneFree, and many others do the same “meta-service,” and this site does the same and more. Ashraf’s job is pretty damn tough, too. As we can see from this thread, not all of the companies giving away product have their act fully polished, and he does some really heavy lifting trying to expose solutions we can use to access and install the software that is being offered. In general, both vendors and the community benefit, because the vendors want to get their software into the marketplace w/o costs, and quite a fes users want — and need — free software! You are wrong, too, that none of the software is sourced/tied to SharewareOnSale. Today’s Aieesoft Blue-Ray giveaway specificially cites SoS. I agree that Ashraf might at least tip his hat to the other sites he is leveraging, but there may be copyright, contract, or other reasons not to do so.

Ashraf, #11, take a deep breath, my friend, or this work of love will kill you! I’m on your side. You cannot single-handedly overcome every developer’s faults, mi amigo. Yes, you to offer near-perfect detailed instructions, and you do yeoman’s service testing the sites with different browsers, BUT this is a complicated world, and you can’t take criticism and problem so personally. I’ve been at this a LONG time, and I’ve learned several things that may help you with “lost” email from vendor key offers. First, AOL mail and some others do NOT always deliver email immediately. I’ve seen a LOT of free software key codes delayed many, many hours by AOL. I suspect several mechanisms are at work, probably related to their spam management. When they see a growing number of emails from the same new email address to many of their customers, I bet they warehouse those messages and start checking into spam attacks. I’ve had such licenses finally posted by AOL hours after they were sent. Unfortunately, AOL does not own up to the delay. Instead they deliver it with the original time stamp. SUDDENLY, when I look back through my email folder I find that mail has been inserted in my Inbox back around the time when I was monitoring the inbox for as much as an hour, waiting for the License.

Fellow “free software fans,” if you are having this problem, try signing up for the same License key with one or two alternate email addresses using other email services like gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc. What I’ve discovered is that I usually can get the key IMMEDIATELY when my primary email vendor has delayed it.

#11 Ashraf, one last pointer: your instructions for this did not actually match the vendor’s process, at least not by the time I used it. They did NOT send a license key to me. They may have run out of resources to do that. Instead they sent me a generic email with a link to a page that displayed the license key.

THANK YOU Ashraf for inventing, this site, and so many other services that we all benefit from.

I decided to view the source code (with a right mouse click) on the ‘Confirm&Download’ buttom which came with the registration email.
There, you can see the link for your license key.
The link starts as follows and has a bunch of numbers and letters in addition to it:
Just copy this link and paste it in a new browser window. Your license key will be displayed immediately.

In case you haven’t already read my earlier comments:- you may have to turn off ‘Tracking Protection’ on Hitfilm’s website, otherwise it causes their site images to layer on top of each other, and the registration form is hidden underneath them. Once you turn off ‘Tracking Protection’ you should be able to see the form after closing the Twitter share pop-up down.

Hi, Ashraf! Yes, you gave perfect, detailed instructions. But something beyond your control seems to be getting in the way. I got to hitfilm’s page, but the “scroll down” button, even when I get a “hand” symbol on it, doesn’t move the page. I have tried it dozens of times already, both in Chrome and in Explorer. So I clicked on tweeter (which I don’t have), closed the screen that came up, and tried the above link again. A registration form flashed on the screen for a second or two, and then the hitfilm page covered it again, with a scroll button that doesn’t work. Do you have any suggestions?

I downloaded HitFilm 2 Express yesterday from their website and scrolled through all the steps without problems. (I enjoyed the multi-directional layout so much I scrolled back and forth through it a few times.) A webpage with the activation code appeared after I clicked the confirmation email they sent me. I quickly wrote it down and made a screen shot of it. It pays to be patient and to read everything that pops up while downloading and installing these programs. The program installed without problems on Windows 7, i7, 64 bit, Intel HD3000. FxHome has provided tutorials for this program and I recommend doing them.

I took a few baby steps with the program today. The GUI is more logical than some I’ve seen. I learned that the program can’t use Dolby stereo so I converted the audio only of the personal practice clips I used to wma. It also had trouble with the video track of my 60 fps MTS files and changing the speed turned the videos black – which indicates either file format incompatibility or my not knowing how to use the program:-). I switched to some files I’d previously converted to WMV and created a butterfly that shoots lightening bolts. HitFilm 2 Express is a solid program with a ton of options but, like all programs, it has a few things to adjust to. Thanks to Ashraf for offering programs that keep this old retired lady’s brain working:-)

Okay… problem solved! If anyone is having the same problem that I was having, try turning off ‘Tracking Protection’. With it activated, the page seems to show in layers, but as soon as you turn it off, the layers separate, enabling you to scroll through. After that, the Twitter share pop-up opens as a proper pop-up instead of a new tab or window (depending on your settings), and when you close it, then the registration box appears… like magic!! Yippee!!

I don’t know what else I can try to get to the registration box :o( I’ve followed the instructions, but even though I click on either the Twitter or Facebook buttons, closing them down doesn’t do anything to remove the You Tube activating ad to upgrade to Hitfilm 2 Ultimate, that covers the registration box. Ergo I can’t fill out my details, ergo I can’t receive the e-mail with the link. Is it possible that they’ve changed the process to require that you actually logon to Twitter or Facebook and share, before they give you access to the registration box?

[@Xi] Thank you for the feedback. We may add it again soon.

[@Philx] Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, this isn’t your average rule of the mill program — it is for people who mean business.

As for SOS issues, you are right on the money. We’ve removed the login button in the sidebar. We are regularly tweaking the website to see what works best; we may add it again in the future based on user feedback, such as yourself. As for the comment form, that is actually unrelated to the login button no longer being available; that is a different issue which I won’t go into here. However, I will tell you a quick trick. If you are logged in, you can leave the name and email fields blank — we will automatically detect your name and email when you submit the comment. We are working on fixing this to make it a bit more clear.

[@Ray E. Woodall] Welcome! Thanks for purchasing upgrades — not only does that support us but it also supports the developers that make software you like.

I honestly don’t know what is going on with their website. It could be cookies issues. Caplocks. Script blocking, etc. You can try contacting them. Also, try running as admin.

I got no email from FXHome for HitFilm2 even though I tried (a) the Twitter routine as sugested, then I tried a (b) Facebool entry — still no registration email anywhere in any email folder — can’t try the software to maybe become a believer yet — HELP!

    (2) There used to be a little “Log In” button on this website but call me stupid, I can’t find it any more. “Your Account” seems to be the entrance gate now.

    Lucky, you are.

I’ve beenhaving it many times in the last two months or so. Not a lot of trouble for me, though.

Thanks for making so many outstanding programs/apps available for us to try out. You are performing a very needed service and I thank you for that. I’ve tried many of the programs and will probably upgrade several of them. They are really good for what they do!

I do need help with a minor problem in registering (activating) HitFilm2 Express. I’ve got the key and that is okay. I try to sign in and my password was wrong. I asked for help and they sent me email to change my PW. I went there and changed the PW. BUT–even tho I am 100% sure I am typing the new PW correctly, it will not allow me to sign in? I even went back a second time and tried to change my PW. No luck!

    Any suggestions???

    Thanks again!

Second….Junk/spam checked, rechecked and checked again and just to be really sure checked again!
Also…Please cancel the account I did not ask for! Thanks

    Two quickies:

    1) It’s not just a 64-bit OS you need to have in order to use this UK software to best advantage. You also need at least 6gigs of RAM. Anything less, and it’s probably best to forget it. This is high calibre software designed for high-load video work and especially, HD. I mention this only because it would be unfair to SoS if anyone acquired this and then came back here complaining that it wasn’t what they expected. In this instance, it’s what the software actually expects of you — not the other way around.

    (2) There used to be a little “Log In” button on this website but call me stupid, I can’t find it any more. “Your Account” seems to be the entrance gate now. However, that means my username and address details have to be re-entered when posting a comment, which wasn’t the case previously. Has there been a change or is my ol’ eyesight failing me?

[@danidonie] There is no 32-bit version, sorry. They ended 32-bit support in v1.

    [@seriousnoize] Ditto.

[@zip locks] First, stop throwing a tantrum. Second, check junk/spam.

[@danidonie] Unfortunately their site says it is for 64 bit machines only. I can’t run it because my PC is only 32 Bit and doesn’t support it.

I cannot register with Hit Film as I have NOT RECEIVED THE LICENSE KEY EMAIL from them!!
All procedures followed correctly (details entered) but no email response – total waste of time!
Retried, only to be told “already an account with that email, check you email for the info” …Bulldust!

[@AnAceBuyer] Are you joking? We literally told you, step-by-step, what you need to do/ in our directions… yet you are still complaining about having to “figure it out”? Bro (or not bro), here at SOS we do the hard work for you — you just have to follow directions ;-)

[@Curly] You can’t. The program is designed for 64-bit computers. Sorry.

OK, I figured it out, but honestly, these guys have outwitted themselves and us. You MUST click the Share on Twitter button to expose the registration page. HOWEVER, you can close the Twitter sign-in pop-up w/o going further, and simply register. THEN they sent you an email with a link. THEN you use that link to get to a web page with your registration code. Guys, the graphics are dazzling, BUT it is NOT user friendly. In fact, it is barely usable. Thanks for the free software nonetheless. Hope it will prove worth the aggravation!

Like an #2, I’ve tried to get to the registration page with Chrome and Firefox. Scrolling, clicking buttons, etc, does not advance to the registration page. Hey, guys. How about putting a simple button on the screens to go to the free registration? Also, noobies, take the time to do a custom installation, please. Lots of configuration options you should decide on manually.

The page that is linked to get a free key is within a moment by an overlay from the ultimate version,so it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a free licence for the express version!
Best avoid this “dirty tricks”company, and blacklist it!

For those wondering why HitFilm 2 Express does not support 32-bit, the answer is: I don’t know. However, my guess is, this program is aimed at professional use over home use and FXHOME made the business decision that their target audience is likely to have 64-bit computers and hence it isn’t worth the investment to make a 32-bit version also. Apparently v1 did support 32-bit computers but not v2.

    Nonetheless, enjoy!
