I even went through the same process(es) again today- still no key. Any ideas as to what I can do before the offer expires (again)? (I have constantly checked to be sure the email wasn’t blocked.) Thanks.

FYI the initial German email from O&O does not include the serial number / registration key, it includes a URL to verify your email address, afterwhich they will send a second email with the license key, so make sure you confirm your email through the URL prior to the offer expiration.

[@Name *] It has now been eleven hours since I requested the key, and still no key, no email, no response at all. I even sent an email to the O&O support address, and no response from there either.
I’m not a noob, I’ve been building and using computers since Windows 3.1, I know how to read and follow instructions, and I did so in this case. I give up. I will never use any O&O product even if they hop on a plane to the USA and hand it to me personally. The files I downloaded this morning are useless without the registration key, so they have been deleted a few minutes ago. No other software I have gotten from SoS has had such a convoluted method of obtaining the key, it’s usually just a simple two-click operation. No matter how good O&O Disc Image might be, it’s not worth all this waiting for what in most all other cases is a very quick and simple registration.

Downloaded and installed fine on Win7 PC . To get the Win PE boot disc you must download and install the Windows AIK ISO and burn it to disc, That takes another hour. Then run the disc and install on your PC. Then run the O&O DiskImage 7 program.to make the boot disc. That takes another 20 minutes.
    KB3AIK_EN.iso Microsoft Corporation 2/24/2014 1.66 GB
Windows Automated Installation Kit Microsoft Corporation 2/24/2014 1.34 GB 2.0.0.0
O&O Disklmage Professional OSO Software GmbH 2/24/2014 62.0 MB 7.81.6

If you purchase it then you do not have to jump through hoops to get the WinPE boot disc. So if your time is more important- buy it rather then waste an hour and 20 minutes.

I have Acronis with the Linux boot disc which is buggy at best and also Easeus Todo Backup home which has the Win PE boot disk built into the program which is alot easier to set up.
In hindsite between the three I would install Easeus Todo Backup home as my main Image backup program.

I was going to suggest that Ashraf do something like this, since so many people are evidently unable to read the instructions in paragraph form with comprehension and understanding. My only added suggestion is that Ashraf add the following statement at at very beginning before the program installer download link: “STOP! Bootable disc gives you full functionality of the program without having to boot Windows! On sharewareonsale website is the English version and the key is delivered by email and on the occasion of the German version DiskImage you do not need to be installed. Many thanks to the authors that had given so advanced program also for commercial use. Moreover created VHD files we can install other programs. The program is also useful techniques and data recovery because it makes copies of sector. This is not a trivial domestic program. Potencial its benefits as I noticed is strong. And it is FREE! I wrote to O & O and here is the reply from Rudy Goodman:

    1. My version is confusing. License agreement says v. 6.5. Software says v.6.8?
    What is it?
A: Your license is valid for registration with any build version (6.5, 6.8, 6.9 etc) of O&O DiskImage 6.
    2. If it is 6.8, does it support Win 8?
A: All build versions of O&O DiskImage 6 support Windows 8
    3. Does it also support Win 8.1? When I install Win 8.1 at a latter date, are there any issues?
A: O&O DiskImage 6 does not currently support Windows 8.1 but we are planning to extend its compatibility in the near future. At that time you may then use it under this system as well.
    4. I was given two Serial Keys. What is the purpose of the Second Serial?
A: The additional licenses are yours to use on additional machines as you wish
    5. I think I saw Family pack at installation. What does it mean?
A: The Family Pack is a name we gave to specially-priced 3 license Edition of O&O DiskImage 6.
This may clear up some answers for other users….John A.

[@Ashraf] Well, the developer’s press release for this version of the software (version 6.8), entitled “O&O DiskImage 6.8: Data Backups under Windows 8,” states, “Berlin, 12th June, 2012 – O&O DiskImage 6.8 is the comprehensive solution for backing up and restoring data under Windows 8.” Presumably, then, version 6.8 supports Windows 8. ;^)

One also can read the June 12, 2012 summary at Software Crew: “Berlin-based O&O Software has announced a major update to its Windows back-up and restore tool. O&O DiskImage 6.8.1 Professional, also available in 64-bit, boasts full Windows 8 support, plus promises faster performance in key areas.” http://www.softwarecrew.com/2012/06/oo-diskimage-6-8-introduces-a-host-of-new-backup-features-plus-windows-8-support/

[@John Amrein] Also, from what I can tell, support for UEFI boot was added in v7.

[@John Amrein] I don’t know if it supports Win8 or not; the program does not list Win8 as being supported in Help docs, which is why I didn’t list Win8 as being supported.

[@John Amrein] Well, as it says it supports Windows 8, I assume that this version supports Windows 8. ;^) jjamrein, as to Windows 8.1, as that came out after the O&O software, I can’t be certain, but presumably, as the software works for Windows 8, it should be fine for 8.1 as well, I assume.

Also, will this v.6.8 support Win 8.1?

    [@Mikerman]

Since this is v.6.8 and Mikerman’s URL says:
O&O DiskImage 6.8: Data Backups under Windows 8. So it supports Win 8-Is that correct?

[@Daniel] Yes. Program info. from the publisher; http://www.oo-software.com/en/oo-diskimage-6-8-data-backups-under-windows-8/index.html.

Note that this is last year’s version–a version 7 is out, now. But still nice.
