Hopefully you all know – to only do such operations from a bootable CD (Windows NOT running)
Does this version allow creation of a bootable CD

The program seems to have installed, but the installation never finishes. I had to close the installation box twice via Task Manager, as the ‘Cancel’ button doesn’t work. I can’t tell if the registration code is there, as I cannot find anywhere to look for it. But so far the program does seem to be working ok.

Paragon’s improved their lineup with the newest version 14, though if you go to the full GUI from the Express launcher it can seem rather stark — I guess that’s the new flattened, 2D look that everyone’s moving to.

In settings or preferences you can now tell the software not to mess with your boot settings, which could be a pain in the past. I just replaced a drive that had four partitions on it [3 of them for different versions of Windows], & Paragon’s software managed that perfectly, copying or cloning the old drive to the new one that was connected via a USB 3.0 dock. In the past I would have expected to fire up EasyBCD afterwards to fix the boot menus. It also proportionally re-sized the partitions to use the added space on the new drive, though there was only one slider — I couldn’t adjust the partitions individually, which would have been a bit nicer… I wound up setting the OS partitions to the size I wanted, then increased the size of the 4th, largest partition afterward to take up all the remaining available space. One pleasant surprise, I was expecting to change the serial numbers on the Windows partitions to match the old drive [for installed software DRM], but didn’t have to — Paragon handled that too. :)

Then a day or 3 later we finished setting up a new PC. You’d expect installing & then updating win7 to take hours, but not this time. I backed up a current win7 HP 64 VM [Virtual Machine], restored that backup to the hard drive [again using the dock], & then used Paragon’s boot disk for V2P [Virtual to Physical], where it turned off the old, core drivers so it would boot with the new hardware. It took a few minutes [literally less than 5], and then after Windows started, just had to run the install setup for the latest AMD driver set, & done. A fully up-to-date win7 install, complete with basics like Microsoft’s Security Essentials, web browser, media player etc., in maybe an hour total [& that's from the time I started making the VM backup].

You’d have to buy the Pro version of Paragon Drive Copy to get the WinPE boot disc I used, but at $20 through Shareware On Sale, it can be well worth it.

This program has probably hidden bonus features. In the main window does not have a backup but there are apps c: \ Program Files \ Paragon Software \ Partition Manager 12 Home Special Edition \ program \ backup.exe and c: \ Program Files \ Paragon Software \ Drive Copy 14 Compact \ program \ backup.exe . Additionally, it has two different files in the directory Bootcd.iso iso. So do not dawdle Only install this device and feel free to explore the contents of the directory of the application.
