I have been unable to detect any downloaded Zip file even after running the hub file three times. Help!

It worked for me at 9 am EST,
    – so try again as the day wears on,
    – try another computer,
    – try another Internet connection,
    – let Windows File Explorer search your hard drive for [date:today] files,
    – I always find a copy of any SOS download in my [ %WinDir%\Temp ] directory,
    – so let Windows File Explorer search for [*] or [zip] files there.

To get the direct download link out of the SOS hub program,
    – we can unplug our Internet/stop our WiFi,
    – then click [ Download and install? ] > [ YES ] from the SOS hub program,
    – and it should error out and offer a direct link instead ( because it can’t get the program ),
    – we can then save the direct link,
    – turn the Internet back on,
    – and then use the direct link to get the download manually,
    – let us know if you get results.

Also let the vendor/programmer János Máthé know at [ https :// www. hdsentinel. com/contact. php ] or [ info@ hdsentinel. com ] and ask for help.

I like the Hard Disk Sentinel program, at least because it shows the drive temperature in the system tray, so I can confirm the effectiveness of my supplemental cooling fans ( I keep drives at room temperature ).

Other features I like are [ Disk ] > [Advanced Power Management ], where I can set the drive for quiet or high performance … which do you think I choose, especially with supplemental cooling fans running all the time? ;-)

I also like to watch all the drive information, performance statistics, and S.M.A.R.T. data.

Repairs wise, and Hard Disk Sentinel promises to perform a surface test on a drive that may call the drive to self-repair ( re-allocate ) bad sectors, described as “Complete surface analysis, refresh, reinitialise, repair”, “The [ Disk ] > [ Extended self-test ] also verifies the complete hard disk surface, finds and repairs all weak areas and re-allocates the possible bad sectors”, perhaps eliminating pesky read/write delays when a drive is returned to live use, I’ve not tried that yet, I’ll have to try it on a “questionable” misbehaving drive that I specifically attach as SATA Drive 1 ( the live Windows Operating System boot drive is SATA Drive 0 … I guess I can move that to another computer to test/repair that boot drive … a little complicated, but if it works, it’s cheaper than HDDRegenerator or SpinRite, which are great programs in themselves, just more expensive, and they are service tools only ).

I can’t tell which version we get here, Standard or Pro, but I presume it’s Pro because the Disk test is not grayed out in the menu, see [ https :// www. hdsentinel. com/store. php ] for feature comparisons.

What do others find when using Hard Disk Sentinel?

I have used HD sentinel for many yrs on many different computers and versions of windows. Love this software and never had any issues with it. It gives HD temps which is a great bonus to this software, especially if you are using a SSD drive, USB stick, or even external HDD’s etc. I highly recommend this software.

I just installed and tested this version.
It is the Standard version and NOT the desirable and better Pro version.
It is the older version 5.50.
    The current version is 5.61.
This version here is also NOT upgrade-able….if you do upgrade it will revert to a non-registered version.

I made the mistake of updating the previous feature to this. It is a LESSER version than what I already had, AND it deactivated my old version. Now I have nothing. Sucks.

Several years ago I loaded an early trial version of this program on my computer which then boasted a top-of-range, new, Pentium CPU. I was not then overly impressed with it and did not proceed to a purchase. I now find that the whole presentation is much better and far more informative. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to try the program again and offer my sincere congratulations on the tremendous improvements made.

Thank you, Peter Blaise, for your thoughtful and detailed reply to my problem. Today I ran a search and found the zip file, which was not in the folder that I thought I had stipulated. Anyway, alls well that ends well and the program is now installed and working well, as did the previous version.
