This is the first paragraph of your messagge: ”

ScanPapyrus lets you quickly and effortlessly scan any paper media including documents, books, journals, magazines, or papyruses and save them to a multipage PDF, DjVu, TIFF,

    Microsoft Word file

    or to multiple graphic files.”

But actually there is not the possibility to save the scanned file in a “word file”, you can have only an image file or pdf file…
    I will unistall it…

    Bonjour,
un petit logiciel très complet et facile d’utilisation,
traduit en plusieurs langues, découpe les pages d’un livre et assemble le tout par exemple dans un Pdf léger…
    un “must have”

[@Itsas] Actually your message is in error. I have used this program previously and since purchasing my new computer was especially this morning to see this program offered again. Yes, you can use the program to save as a Word document, but not without purchasing a license for unlimited use. I really appreciate being able to use this program again and thank you Ashraf for having it and thanks to BlackParrot Software for giving it away. Also, the “check for updates” that pops up after opening the program can be removed by clicking on the little icon next to the Home button in the menu tab. From the drop down window, click on Settings and uncheck the box. Be sure to click on Apply prior to closing the window.

    I used this software before.
Very nice and easy to use with common scanners.

Installed and registered quickly and flawlessly on Win10x64 (not like yesterday’s fiasco Simply Good Pictures offering which was Simply Awful!)

The program is well designed and has an intuitive layout. I haven’t had time to try it out yet on my old Acer Scan2Web scanner but I am optimistic.

    Very nice offering today. Thanks.

I am like Itsas. You canNOT save as a Word File, but only as an image file or a PDF file.
Mardel, apparently you have the unlimited version, so I assume you can save as a Word file.
Don’t say somebody else is wrong unless you install this program as is without the unlimited version.
Then you will see that there is no way to save it as a Word file.
And when you go to Recognition for it to recognize the text for a Word file, it wants you to buy a license key
and takes you to a website where you can purchase it.

I am very disappointed that this program did not include the ability to save as a Word file.
But I have other programs that can do that for me, so this one is only partially usable.

Tried ScanPapyrus when it was offered in 2018 – found the program OK but nothing special & removed it.
(To be fair, have PaperPort Pro, OmniPage Pro & PDF Pro installed: a difficult bunch to compare against.)

In any event: tried to download the current offer, which is a later release, and repeatedly receive the following error message:

Sorry, your session has expired. Return to shop

Will try in another browser (default is Firefox), but wonder whether anyone else has had similar problem, or has suggestions….

Well, this is surprising: in spite of the Error Messages shown above, DID receive an email from SOS with the Download Link & Directions for ScanPapyrus!

Some Confusing Partial-Glitch in the system…..

Didn’t know how good or bad this would be.

It recognized both my Canon and ancient (usually twain driven from the drivers in VueScan only), Espon scanner.

Scanning in a color document at an angle and needed to use the relatively imprecise wheel tool thing to correct the crazy angle. Wish it had grid lines as they would have allowed for more accuracy. Maybe it has, but I can’t see where to turn them on at first glance. Good that it saves as JPG and PDF, but would have been better to supply more formats?

Still as a true “give-away”, it’s good value.

    Thanks.

My install would not work. It gets to the “Language” option, then freezes. I’m trying to install version 19.0.0.0 on Windows 10.

This program is a bit of a ruse to get people to purchase the word recognition function of the program.

ScanPapyrus lets you quickly and effortlessly scan any paper media including documents, books, journals, magazines, or papyruses and save them to a multipage PDF, DjVu, TIFF, Microsoft Word file or to multiple graphic files.

It does NOT save to a word document. To be able to do this I presume you have to buy an additional “key” to enable the word recognition part of the program. Without any word recognition there is nothing special about this program

Uninstalled as I don’t like to be deceived!

This is an updated comment – original disappeared (happens to me many times) and I worked with ScanPapyrus some more.

    TLDR: I like this program!

Installed with no problems, I had an older version and installed this to same folder without un-installing older program.

Seems simple to use. I scanned a piece of sheet music and did not try to align the paper with edge of scanner. I’m very impressed with results! It straightened the page perfectly, no stair-stepping on the music score lines. All shading was removed and auto-crop saved everything it should with nothing extra. My scanner is a very old Epson 3170 Photo, it’s got to be 15 years old by now.

The good/bad/unexpected thing is that when I hit scan, it loaded in the Epson scanning software. So I had to adjust settings there as well, and tell Epson software to scan. When it finished, the output appeared in ScanPapyrus. It’s good that (I think) I can use all the features in the Epson software, like dust removal, color correction, de-screen and all the color curve, saturation, contrast settings. It’s bad because it adds several clicks and about 20 seconds to the first scan. After that, Epson software remembers my settings and seems to re-load faster, so it only adds about 5 seconds and 1 click. It’s unexpected that ScanPapyrus would not be able to scan on its own, but that may be due to the near-antique status of my scanner (got it when XP would not support my OLD scanner, it barely ran in Vista, runs great in Win 10 for some reason).

I scanned 4 sheets of music, all looked great, and then I was able to save them together as a 4-page PDF file with options to change the page order, rotation, or delete pages. Could even add to an existing PDF. So that part of my scanning process is now VERY easy and faster.

So your mileage may vary! I think this would work very well on newer scanners. I’m not concerned about the “recognition” part of the program requiring an additional license key purchase. My guess is the ScanPapyrus team has to pay for each OCR license it distributes, and they need to make some money also, so that’s fair. I use Abbyy Screenshot Reader or my favorite PDF viewer, PDF X-Change Editor, when I need a quick OCR, and there are free web services that do OCR and return very good results for converting longer documents.
