This app is an attic ventilation calculator for figuring the amount of ventilation required in a residential / light commercial building attic space. The app is based on the IBC Code of 1 square foot of ventilation for every 300 square feet of attic space. The app is an estimate of the required intake and exhaust ventilation based on averages. Please verify your products published Net Free Area (NFA) to determine the correct requirements to meet local code. In the app the NFA rating box can be adjusted to whatever the published NFA rating is for the product you are using. Once the NFA is entered, the last number entered is remembered for the next use. The intake portion of the app uses averages of several manufacturers of soffit systems - again, please use the published NFA rating for the products used on the particular project. The app will calculate the intake ( based on the width of the soffit multiplied by the NFA per foot rating) to give you the total NFA per running foot and then can determine how many feet of soffit is required or how many vented panels are needed for the proper intake. The exhaust portion will take several different types of products and give you estimated units needed to meet the 1/300 rule of ventilation. It is important to always have a balanced system of intake and exhaust. After using this app just a few times, the user will be able to navigate this app with ease saving valuable time and effort in ventilation calculations.
