Reviews for Avira Phantom VPN Pro
Not half bad, and it’s by Avira who has a relative OK history as a company. Have it installed on my Surface Go to test out how well it’d do on public networks as I’m considering investing into a VPN just for this and have to say so far it’s been working good with decent speeds.
It has a lot of different connection spots ranging from the U.S. to Scandinavia, Russia, and Europe as a whole so you’ll have plenty of different locals to choose from. Currently, when connected to “Nearest” there’s a 25ms ping which isn’t bad at all. However, should I choose a country further away from me the ping in milliseconds increases to seconds which is pretty typical seeing how VPN works so it isn’t a fault with Avira Phantom.
The user interface is OK, but having used NordVPN previously I see that I can’t choose to whitelist apps to use my regular connection. Meaning that this VPN will tunnel ALL your data through their VPN servers. This can lead to issues with apps like Microsoft Outlook detecting “suspicious activity” since you’re suddenly connecting from Russia from the U.S. meaning you might have to log in again to your email providers.
Overall, a decent and quick app that has some decent servers available. Missing some features more dominant VPN providers give you but well worth checking out. Installed quickly, no restart required after installation either.
Avira wellknown and proven. It is excellent
Started using it today on Windows 10. Very basic user interface. No split tunneling. Overall, it does what it’s supposed to do.
