Reviews for oMega Commander
This is an awesome program and best way to control files . Awesome program and best of the batch for this product.
I do not know why this program has not received more reviews to show how great it is.
This is a very little known fact about company.
—————————————————————————————————————-
Unfortunate it has had a low budget to advertise. They are considering not making any more updates do to the low income. The main programmer is doing these updates on his own time.
PLEASE PASS ALONG TO OTHERS THIS GREAT PROGRAM TO BUY ! Please help the smaller companies achieve success to compete with Microsoft etc. Comment/review on all blogs you can get to and send your reviews to achieve larger market share. Lets support this great program.
OMega Commander is a more refined file explorer for Windows. It has many features that Windows Explorer does not offer and it is easy to use! It offers side by side file searching in one window, which allows you to transfer files in different locations without having to open multiple windows unlike Explorer.exe. It is also less CPU intensive, allowing older pc’s to use less RAM, which in my experience; allows faster transferring rates and allow more multi-tasking for older PC’s. This was the first time I’ve ever used this program and I can say without a doubt, it is a must have program for any Windows user who likes to transfer files on the fly and doesn’t like the default CPU intensive Explorer.exe that slows down your PC.
Wow! Okay, I haven’t tried them all, but after oMega Commander, I won’t need to. It has everything I could want and more, is intuitive and easy and has a great and attractive interface that is adjustable. Wow!
I very like this old eversome interfase the very comfortable for yours eyes! And very very good and comfortable commander. I like that I have this program. Thank you developers
I’m currently use Clover because of its Tabs feature. This looks like a possible replacement as it has tabs and much more. I’m still coming to grips with all the features but I like the layout and the customization available.
This is just a fantastic program. I am very grateful to SharewareOnSale for supplying this. Like the other reviews say its a great program for people who work with complex directory/folder structures like I do in a professional practice. It is just so well executed. Instead of having to open and size windows of folders OMega Commander has two folder screens with a big suite of tools available. When opened up OMega brings up the last folder screens you were on. You can then easily move copy etc. files from one folder to the other, manage subfolders wysiwyg etc. Works well including across networked mapped drives. Frequently used folders can be bookmarked which makes fast access easy – works much better than Windows Explorer Quick Access. Unpretentious but invaluable to me is the select button which is great for putting a folder path onto the clipboard for across application use. I have started using the Find function too which is much faster (thankfully) and easier to code and manipulate than Windows File Explorer.
The more time and trouble to get the hang of this software the more useful you will find it.
OMega REVIEW- I have been using Omega Commander since its first version. I consider it a MUST HAVE Utility. It provides many more features than any other paid competitor I have tried and bought. I use it multiple times a day and have pinned it to my toolbar. I have installed the new version and will provide a complete review soon. I do not know what the commenters from 2017 are talking about. I suggest they give it another chance and install this version.
I realise this is the very same version I had left a scathing comment about in January. I also realise I was so appalled by the user interface, as it appeared in the screenshots on the publisher’s website, I hadn’t even bothered to install the program. So, this time, I did.
This allowed me to find O-Mega Commander is not high DPI-aware. I have a Windows 7 64-bit system (display set at 150 %, Use XP-Style DPI Scaling = No). On this PC, the 64-bit version displays a blurry interface, and there’s no way to correct that by checking the Disable Display Scaling on High DPI Settings box in the Properties / Compatibility tab of the executable, as is often the case.
So I tried the 32-bit executable, which gave out a blurry interface as well. However, in this case, checking the box Properties / Compatibility / Disable Display Scaling on High DPI Settings puts things back in focus.
Alas, as is too often the case in non high DPI-aware software, this, in turn, make some elements of the user interface so tiny as to be unusable. Now there is a screen in the Settings box where you can adjust the font size of the interface. Enlarging the font for Tool Ribbons to size 9 makes the user interface more palatable, but there are still some text and icons which remain way to small to be usable. Also, spacing is bad, and the myriad of small choices and adjustments which make for a readable interface are all wrong.
The Settings box offers independent font customisation for 12 different parts of the user interface, which is, in itself, proof that the design work has not been done. This is a very, very wrong concept as far as usability is concerned. There’s no way an end user can adjust individually so many different elements, and end up with an harmonious design. And that’s only for fonts.
Out of the three themes, only one is barely usable (relative to the others) : silver. The default font for folder names is brown and not black, which, again, breaks all the rules of proper graphic design.
I’m sorry I have to stop there and not evaluate the rest of the program. If a car has a splendid engine but the steering wheel breaks in your hands at the first turn, well, there’s no point in revving up the engine.
Of course, if there’s something I have missed which would make this program high DPI-aware, please mention it. However, all similar pleas I have made for such handicapped programs in the past always failed to bring up a solution.

The review is obsolete.
oMega Commander 3.0 supports high DPI-monitors and can be comfortably used on multiple monitors with varying DPIs.
E.g. if one of monitors is 4K, and another Full HD, you can open different oMega Commander windows on these monitors and they will look natively on each of them. Many other applications can’t do that.
Please give the new version a try!
Thank you!
I got this as a giveaway several months ago and was very impressed by it. Many things I would never use but also some very helpful stuff. The reason I don’t use it: I can’t find any way to get a folder tree view. I simply have too many partitions, drives and folders to remember them all, and I jump to many different locations in a single computer session. Different locations depending on what I’m working on or what I found in my inbox or on a web page or who I need to help. I need to see the structure in front of me to be effective, and view several paths at the same time. If Omega Commander had a “tree view” or “folder view” pane, I would enjoy using it! For now, I’ll stick with FreeCommander XE, it’s at the center of almost everything I do on my PC. If you’re less of a pack rat than me, you might really like Omega Commander, well worth a try!
Windows File Explorer works well, and comes with a few settings and tweaks here and there. It also comes along with several tricks, which are not known by many users out there. Even though it does it’s job well, it does have some limitations and does not match the tasks other file managers can perform. Many third party file manager/explorer applications are available, of which only a few are great replacements for the Windows File Explorer.
oMega Commander is a reliable and intuitive file manager application, that comes packed with great tools and functions to manage files and folders. It allows you to copy, move, split, join or compress files, as well as perform tasks with folders. Along with a complete range of basic tweaks and functions, this tool comes with some features not found in Windows File Explorer.
Installation & Set-up
The installer size is ~7Mb and the installation process is simple and straightforward, taking no time at all. During the installation, it asks you if you want to install the application as portable, 64-bit version or 32-bit version, and to create shortcuts or not. On start-up, the application let’s you adjust some settings like, files highlighting, color scheme, language, show hidden and system files, and more. Once done adjusting those, you can easily register the application if you have a license code.
User Interface
This application comes with an unusual interface, which may look cluttered at first. The UI has two parallel panels that contain the folder structure of the currently selected drive. You can do tasks in both of the panels, allowing you to work between two drives or directories simultaneously. On the top is the menu bar, followed by some buttons on top of both the panels. These include buttons to navigate to other drives, change file/folder view, along with buttons to get back to the root and parent folder. At the bottom, under the two panels are buttons for options like copy, move, split, and join or compress files. You can adjust the width and size of the two panels, and also the other sections like toolbar to suit your needs.
Features
File management functions are organized into different categories at the bottom of the window. Along with the basic functions, it comes with many more additional features that make the software more useful. You can view the current content of the clipboard and view files in editable ANSI or Unicode modes. You can also compress, split or join files by using the wizard based process to guide you through it. The basic create new, copy, move, cut, and delete functions of folders and directories can be performed too. The application also displays folder size and properties, and allows to create bookmarks for your favourite directory or folders. You can also explore data from a connected network disk, and set a folder as virtual disk easily. Other than the file management functions, the application comes with shortcuts to system functions like Control Panel, Admin Tools, Network Connections, Registry Editor and more.
Moreover, the application comes with folder tabs, safe delete, a great search function, and a lot more functions that are not present in Windows File Explorer.
Pros
Easy-to-use UI
UI is split into two panels, allowing you to view two directories at the same time.
File and Folder Bookmarks
File groping using colors
Advanced copy, paste, cut, move, edit, view, split, join, and compress functions.
Safe delete of files and folders, so they cannot be recovered.
A great search function, that helps to find files and folders.
Built-in image viewer
Conclusion
oMega Commander is a great file manager application, that makes file/folder management easier with it’s complete range of basic functions, and some handy advanced features. It runs smoothly, without any lag or crashes. It is an effective and useful Windows File Explorer replacement, that will definitely make your life easier on daily basis.
Looks good, but no FTP support.

There’s an FTP plugin here: https://www.ghisler.com/plugins.htm
FTP plugin is for Total Commander. It’s not compatible with oMega
You should check out Directory Opus. It has FTP support and then some…
I always was Total Commander user, tried Q-Dir, but didn’t like it. And now after trying new Commander, I decided to give it a chance =) Very interesting and functional software!
Putting it quite simply if you need to do any amount of file manipulation, this is the program for you. Previously I used windows explorer, xyCommander and Q-dir depending on my needs. This has features to make all of them seem blah! Try playing with adding ribbons (you need to rename the ribbon file to rename the ribbon) or having sets of tabs – small learning curve but well worth it. The zip functions are amazingly fast (probably all other file functions as well, but I haven’t done enough to check for sure). The search results were impressive too: did a search for *.jpg across two partions on an SSD drive and a single partition on a 2TB hard drive. It found over 10,000 files in seconds (and I don’t use windows indexing).
No question I’ll be buying a license.
