To get started, you need account on poloniex.com exchange. Your margin account must have a non-zero balance in the BTC. In the API KEYS page you need to generate "Api key" and "Secret" with possibility of trade. Both strings must be imported into the application in Settings page.
To open a position in a particular currency should be set in the settings of the position size. Pressing the "Long" or "Short" button will change the size of the active position in accordance with a predetermined pitch.
Do not risk a sum of more than willing to lose.
