Reviews for Tenorshare Windows Video Downloader
I have other programs that work much better. I had one W7 PC it would not even open and the other it sat at 0% progress for ever.
Waste of time!!!
I use windows 7… and the first couple of links I tried didn’t work there is also no listing of which 100+ sites work … Skillsahe and udemy don’t work or the links included…
NOT WORKING WITH WINDOWS 7
Installed on Vista and Win 7. Does not download from YouTube. This version is over a year old. Useless. Hardly a good way to sell a product.
Windows Video Downloader is by far the most attractive piece of software I have ever found on this site. It is simple and the user interface begs to be used. I registered my copy (don’t fumble trying to get the registration details, you will find them in your confirmation email or at the Sharewareonsale product download page). The only tricky part is identifying the menu. It is the first option on your top-right menu strip. You won’t get any hint when you hover on it so you have to take my word.
Download or watch online videos options is a bit shaky
Windows Video Downloader is a straight to the point no nonsense application. You are either watching an online video or downloading it. This is the doctrine the two bold ‘Download’ and ‘Online Video’ options at the very top seem to preach.
Online videos is an utter mess
The ‘Online Video’ tab gives you a browser-like interface with a couple of video sites and the option to add more if your favorite isn’t listed. This seemed to work on my first attempt but remained confused whenever I tried to switch to another video streaming service. It left me stuck on the homepage without actually loading anything. I’d say the browse and entire watch online video tab is an utter disappointment. They could have done better here, or done away with it. After all, the app is a video downloader, not a tool for watching videos online.
The video download section works albeit sluggishly
Windows video recorder captures your videos in two ways. Your first option is to click the ‘Download’ button beside the video (if you are using the downloader’s online video option.) I didn’t fancy this option after establishing that the inbuilt video browser had the potential to make my life miserable.
The paste URL option looks more liberal. I can use my favorite browser to get the videos I want. I find this more convenient as I stream my videos as I do something else online. The paste option will automatically pick the URL off your clipboard and pop up a dialog that lets you choose the preferred download destination. Everything after this is a breeze.
Some control over your downloads
You can limit the number of simultaneous downloads or let the downloader split the bandwidth across whatever you have on the download list. If you want to give precedence over some downloads, you can always right click and pause the other downloads.
The video converter, though rudimentary when compared to other free converters like Format Factory, will let you swap your videos from one format to another for cross platform compatibility.
Verdict
The Windows Video Downloader isn’t what I expected it to be when I first downloaded it. It is a brilliant attempt at helping you watch videos offline but it lacks the refinement I would expect in this niche. It lacks the snappiness and will keep videos at 0% for a while (not a bandwidth issue as I could still stream HD video on my browser as the downloader was stuck at 0%)
This app is a good definition of the features any amazing video downloader should have. It would have been awesome if all the features actually did what they ought to do, and do it very quick.
You can download it. It will occasionally work, but it will test your patience.

I agree … when I install the program it just sends me to their website. The folder is installed on the hard drive, but there is no exe file to run the program….very disapointing. Too bad, I would have enjoyed this program.
