Knapp 300 Arten, die in den Büchern Vogelarten Deutschlands, Österreichs und der Schweiz (erschienen im Haupt Verlag) porträtiert werden, sind in der App erfasst und mit wenigen Klicks können Beobachtungen dieser Arten an www.naturgucker.de oder auch nabu-naturgucker.de übertragen werden. Zusätzlich können Sie Ihre eigenen Beobachtungen in der App verwalten und auch nachträglich ergänzen. Die Beobachtungen können nach der Erfassung direkt online oder auch zeitversetzt über WLAN zum Naturgucker hochgeladen werden.

Zudem bietet die App die Möglichkeit, aktuelle Beobachtungen anderer Beobachter in umliegenden Gebieten abzurufen und sich so über das aktuelle Geschehen zu informieren. Die genaue Gebietsposition wird auf einer Karte angezeigt. Diese Funktion setzt eine Internetverbindung voraus.
