I have NOT used this software before but, the way it works according to its website’s software description, installation instructions and FAQ, I do have an opinion about installing it. I would not.

The installation instructions are too convoluted and loaded with caveats for my liking, to say nothing of the poor translations/typos. For example, their main Support page includes info on how to resolve Outlook’s detecting their certificate as malware:
“By default Outlook blocks potentially dangerous facilities, such as *. crt Security Certificates or *. exe program files. Outlook itself does not an option, single file types of safety level 1 not to block. You can, however, in the Registry following venue, so CRT certificate files. Proceed as follows:”

You can puzzle through what they actually mean but, especially where the Registry is concerned, I don’t want to have to deduce anything. Even then, they warn that their hacks may/may-not work:
“Download the registry patches without guarantee: Outlook 2000 SP3; Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003″. No mention is made regarding Outlook 2007 or 2010.

A nice feature of the software, however, is that there appears to be a separate interface for email clients other than Outlook. This appears to enable you to use their Outlook Add-on for Outlook (not Express) and a standalone interface for all other clients on the same system. This is nice if you have less popular email clients, like Incredimail, from which you wish to send encrypted emails.

I prefer using a signing/encrypting certificate from a recognized signing authority for my secure emails. COMODO provides such a certificate and the software to install/register it in the Windows Certificate Store without all the hoopla and for FREE. Each email can be signed and encrypted, or only signed, or neither.

Thanks SOS and abylon CRYPTMAIL. Maybe next time.

Went to the site and read this, “Sending never again unencrypted emails. With abylon CRYPTMAIL offer abylonsoft an user interface and an Outlook AddIn for email encrypting (incl. Attachments).”

Gives me pause about downloading and installing.
Has anyone used this software from this company; if so would you please share your experience?
    Thanks
