I have Windows 7 64 bit. When I download AOMEI Backupper Pro , it constantly fails. I’ve even downloaded it, and saved it on my desktop. When I attempt to install it, it shows as “non existing”, and disappears. Please help me with this.

Had no troubles in installing & activating the software, on 2 computers. It is imperative to copy/paste the code exactly as is. Some may confuse ’0′ with ‘O’. Or if handwritten, 2 for Z, or vise versa.

I copy/pasted the license key & all was fine. WinPE media was created,

Thanks to AOMEI & Shareware on Sale for making this possible! AOMEI is considered to be decent software & is a rising brand. Time will serve the company well.

In addition to the primary backup function this tool makes for a good recovery tool when used “of label”.

Case in point, I had recently bought a new large HDD and proceeded to initialize and populate it. After MOVING over 130 GB to the new disk it seemed to go south. The MBR was good, all the partion boot blocks were good, the partition table was good but XP refused to see it. Even HxD, my favorite hex disk editor burped. It would see the disk but said it only had zero bytes!

When just for the hell of it I tried, Aomei Backupper v2.0, it saw the disk and all the partition. I found that I could “backup” the recalcitrant disk to a image file and then use Aomie to mount the image partitions as virtual disks an enable me to use any file manager to view or recover the files to any location of my choosing. It retained all the original file attributes as well.

It seems the the current batch of back up tools are accessing the disk directly – bypassing windows. Aomei can see and directly “backup” partitions from a GPT disk while Windows will not ackowledge its existence.

Paragon Drive Copy will do the same but each has its use.
Aomei creates a proprietary disk image which takes an extra step enables mounting a virtual disk and use of any file management tool.

Paragon Drive Copy will access a GPT disk directly and “Export” files and or folders to targets of choice.

Both are good tools to have in ones toolbox.

According to their website, Version 2.0.1 has some extra features over the V.2.0 given away recently, not just the the usual bug fixes you’d expect from a minor update.

‘Paragon’ the old man, is still ok but a bit slow and indeed needs ‘ full recoding’ soon. Ease US I thought would be good but is ‘NOT so good’ because I used it recently (I did a secondary back up with it just in case) and BAM! I needed to restore! It DID restore (disk), BUT, a LOT of my plugins needed to be ‘reactivated’ sadly!…I then went to my TRUSTED restorer ‘Macrium reflect’ (saved my bacon a few times already) and my puter rebooted and… ‘Perfect!’ – Aomei has good GUI, it’s the PRO version (diff&Inc), well thought out, is easy to use and has deeper layers (no ssd) so far not tested!…and has NO virus, and S/n works just fine! ;) . Thanks for this share Mr. Ashraf.

This is now my go-to backup software. I bought the lifetime update last giveaway and its been working great. It has a much better interface than Paragon, and includes the WinPE recovery environment you pay extra to get from acronis. Thanks Ashraf, good giveaway.

[@alissa] It is made in China but VirusTotal found it to be clean: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/54834672c9297befb904425fce167553612b1df42cdf75407928e39dc5f84f03/analysis/

Of course, proceed at your risk.

[@darkagent] Thank you for the support, although we don’t have to resort to name calling :-)

Thanks Ashraf for all your hard work in bringing us great software deals on a daily basis. Don’t feed the trolls, bro.

    @ Alex
See my post #5. I was trying to restore a “system backup” then.
I’m still in touch with their support yet to know if a “partition backup” had be better in this case, if UEFI was the cause of the failure of my attempt or… if i did something wrong.

[@Alex] You can bet on that. I have used it, some four or five times, and successfully each time. It’s the only backup program I use, and I’ve tried many of them, including Acronis, Paragon, et al.

According to the comparison on Aoemi’s website (http://www.backup-utility.com/edition-comparison.html), the Pro version has three advantages over the always-free standard edition:
    - command line backup ability
-backup disk space management facility, and
-ability to merge incremental images into a full image

The free AMOEI Backupper Standard has one huge advantage over the “free” Pro version offered here that I probably will use, however – Free Lifetime Upgrades.
I really don’t see that the pro version has enough advantages to make it worthwhile for a non-geek like me. And, although I appreciate this free offer, if you don’t need the advantages mentioned above, I think the upgrades make the Standard version a better choice for many of us.
I’ve been using the standard version for a few months now, and I’ve used it a lot. It’s an excellent program. Thanks to dottech for discussing it Feb 9,2013 in an article on the best backup software – that’s where I discovered the program. And by the way, since the article was written at least one of the “cons” has now been fixed. It is possible to schedule backups with the latest version.
Love these “free” and “nearly free” programs! Thanks.

It’s good that it includes a linux boot disk option as well as a WinPE builder. Some other utility type programs don’t (EaseUS), requiring an additional 1.7GB download of the Windows AIK file.

At the present time and after one “bad experience”, I’m not at all sure that the program is able to recover a system with Win 8.1, UEFI and GPT !
Thanks anyway for the possibily to test the PRO version.

I have version 2 Standard. It would be helpful if the differences between version 2 Pro and Standard could be enumerated. From reading user comments on Giveaway of the Day, I detect that the only real difference is that the Pro version can merge incremental backups into a single full backup. This seems to be a trivial difference with no advantage. On the downside, when I upgraded from version 1.6 to version 2, it totally “unrecognized” all my previous backups. This “feature” was not advertised! So, thanks anyway, but it looks like I will not be upgrading from Standard to Pro.

Aomei setup program complains about corrupted files. Packed file unpacks without error, a good
    download.
