A lo largo de estos años, las pautas terapéuticas reflejadas en el libro han perseguido ayudar tanto a los médicos en formación como a los médicos de urgencias y otros especialistas que han de enfrentarse a las rápidas decisiones que implica la emergencia médica. Sin embargo, y a pesar de que los servicios de urgencias se han convertido en puerta de acceso universal al sistema sanitario, obligando a los médicos de urgencias a ampliar cada vez más sus conocimientos, este libro no ha tenido nunca la ambición de un tratado de medicina interna. Su índice se limita fundamentalmente a aquellas patologías cuya gravedad o dificultad de tratamiento inmediato exige el apoyo rápido y escrito de las pautas a seguir en cada caso.
En cada capítulo se ha realizado una revisión exhaustiva basada en la evidencia, de los regímenes terapéuticos de las distintas enfermedades contempladas en el índice. No se ha buscado el detalle en la fisiopatología o la patogenia de las enfermedades, pues es en otros libros o tratados donde hay que buscar estas respuestas. En cambio, se ha buscado el énfasis en el tratamiento metódico de cada emergencia médica, trasladándolo como siempre a un lenguaje que permita la representación mental de los pasos a seguir para conseguir el éxito terapéutico. En el campo de la emergencia médica, donde el tiempo disponible para tomar decisiones es escaso, se hace necesario un apoyo dirigido para que el profesional administre el tratamiento acorde, en el menor tiempo posible. Esta ha sido la filosofía de la obra.

También se puede acceder a los capítulos a través de un buscador de palabras clave. El usuario puede además guardar sus capítulos favoritos para un acceso más rápido.

ISBN edición electrónica: 978-84-606-5591-6Since the first edition of the book "Therapeutic Strategies in Emergency Medicine" in 1998 was published, we have been expanding, revising and updating the therapeutic indications of the various disease entities to which the emergency physician faces in their daily work, to the 4th edition recently published paper (2012).
Throughout these years, therapeutic guidelines reflected in the book have sought help both doctors in training as emergency physicians and other specialists who have to face quick decisions involving medical emergency. However, despite that the emergency services have become the target of universal access to health care, forcing emergency physicians to expand increasingly knowledge, this book has never had the ambition of a medical treatise internal. Its index is largely limited to those pathologies whose seriousness or difficulty immediate treatment requires rapid support and written guidelines to follow in each case.
Each chapter has conducted a thorough review based on evidence of therapeutic regimens of different diseases listed in the index. It has not been sought detail in the pathophysiology and pathogenesis of disease, as it is in other books or treated where to find these answers. Instead, the emphasis has been sought in the methodical treatment of each medical emergency, always moving it as a language that allows the mental representation of the steps to achieve therapeutic success. In the field of medical emergency, where time available to make decisions is scarce, targeted support for the professional administering the treatment line in the shortest time possible is necessary. This has been the philosophy of the work.
I want to thank the whole team of medical staff who have participated in the preparation of this book, and now mobile application, its commendable effort. We all wish fervently that future users will find in its pages fast, effective and necessary help to clarify the therapeutic guidelines and contribute to the success of treatment. If we achieve this goal, we feel that our effort was worthwhile.
