Pilots are required to keep a record of their flying activities such as block time on/off, rotor turning time or time aloft. Pilots Friend watchface is designed to assist time-keeping apart from showing local time and UTC time. And its perfectly suited for night flying. Pilots Friend requires the Watchmaker Premium as a skin app. Watchmaker embeds the Watch Face for any compatible Android wear smartwatch and gives best battery life while still allowing notifications. It is useful also for keeping a timelog of non-aviation related activities.
Tap (in bright mode) on DEP (see picture above) and the start time will be displayed and the elapsed time begins to run. After the happy landing tap ARR and the time of arrival is displayed and the elapsed time will stop. After entering the times in a logbook, tap on elapsed time and all indications are reset. All timers will remain working in dim mode.
The elapsed time works across midnight once only. But after more than 24 hours you have probably run out of fuel anyway.
The main time is synchronized with your companion android phone. If required, you may set your phone to UCT time system. When in bright mode, UTC is shown below the main time indication (local time)
At the bottom, there is a digital stop watch. You may clock holdings, tear drop turns, engine cooling down time or any other activity.
No flat tire will be visible on Motorola, works well on square watches too like the Sony Smartwatch 3
Set the watch settings to "display always on". When a tap is required, bring the watch to full bright first with one of the methods supported on your watch.
Set brightness to „auto“ for best results.
Disable fitness sensors for longest battery live.
Pilots Friend, once installed on your watch, does not require bluetooth or WLAN connection to your phone, phone and watch can be set to „flight mode“.
