I think this giveaway ended on 5/4/14 and you had to install and register it before the giveaway ended. I think the trick to registering this one was to install it again and re-register it. It may have needed a reboot also.

One of the best that I’ve tried. I’ve had a couple of crashes, but overall I’m quite happy with it for my light recording needs. No problem recording sound here either. Thanks!

I get the Audio Format available only in the Audio Record mode, all other modes have this option disabled.

    As for streams.
Unprotected streams (YT and co.) don’t need to be recorded. That’s waste of time and quality. Most can be grabbed by software. Google knows a lot of such programms.

As for the fee-based video on demand services, that use a copy protection, you’d either have to use a grabber that decrypts it (I don’t know any, not my field) and thus would be illegal in most countries… or you record it to have a legal copy.
But since vod sites stream movies and series’ you’d get better quality by just buying it on blu-ray. Or if you don’t care about legal/illegal or downloading is legal in your country (like in Switzerland) then download Blu-Ray rips from warez sites. Also way better quality than (HD) streams.

Recording the sound accompanying a video? My experience is that the instant playback offered within liteCAM HD does not include playback of the audio. However, the audio is recorded, as when I played the saved avi file, it was with sound. Hope this helps someone else, as I’ve just spent a rather frustrating hour of changing settings trying to record a video with sound, and being baffled by the lack of sound on the instant playback. I was even more perplexed when I discovered that the was successfully able to record and give instant playback of the sound accompanying a video.

Seems like a very nice software for recording streaming videos. Se7en suggests there are others, any specific suggestions?

For the LAME dll, the installation of liteCAM HD opens a webpage (http://www.innoheim.com/litecamhd/mp3.php), with two download links. I followed link 1 (http://www.free-codecs.com/Lame_Encoder_download.htm) and was presented with many possible downloads. I have a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, so I first tried LAME MP3 Encoder 3.98.4 – x64. Downloaded the zip, followed the instructions at http://www.accessvideotips.com/wordpress/litecam-lame-installation-guide/, but this was not successful (Audio File Format did not show MP3 option). Back to http://www.free-codecs.com/Lame_Encoder_download.htm. This time I downloaded LAME MP3 Encoder 3.98.4, extracted, and copied lame_enc.dll (same name, but different size to the version in LAME MP3 Encoder 3.98.4 – x64.zip) to the liteCam HD folder under Program Files(x86). Success! Audio File Format list now includes MP3.

The free version has some hassles (because it is an older version):
    - AVIs will split when reaching 2 GB (resulting in lags in the merged video and in the game while playing); this problem will hit you very fast and very hard when you change the encoder to something lossless like Lagarith (for the excellent visual quality)
    - the recommended standard encoder (Microsoft MPEG-4 v3) is incompatible with online video platforms (like YT)
    - the internal convert feature does bad quality, increasing the bitrate gets ignored
    - some converters that rely on internal filters can’t open the AVIs because the used codec is not popular enough (tools that use systemcodecs won’t have this problem)
    - the internal standard encoder does insufficient quality in fast pictures (like fast games: ego-shooter, racing games); but does a very good quality in everything that’s slow (desktop, slow games) if the bitrate is set to 6000
    - mixes system- and microphone sound into one stream, instead of splitting it into two for later adjustments

The new version doesn’t have those troubles anymore (according to the support). Except for the joint audio – probably.

    [@Al Gee]
You don’t have to properly configure it to record a stream (record, not capture). As for audio it knows those sources that your system offers. Systemsound (computer sound) includes everything that you hear and it’s standard.

I assume you don’t have WinXP. No-body should have this OS anymore anyway. And thing work differently there too.

But you could as well use one of the many stream grabbers out there that download the stream directly instead that you record is (I use NetVideoHunter [FF addon] and/or jDownloader). Unless, of course, it is a protected stream… then only recording may help… depending on the protection used.

Minor updates are updates within the version. Major updates is an upgrade.
If you buy version 4.9 you get all updates of version 4.
But when version 5 is released you’d have to buy it again.

Versionslicense is a very common license model. Although in the recording department – esp. for games – lifetime licenses are also very common (see Bandicam, D3DGear, Fraps, Dxtory,…). Those include all updates/upgrades.

When the next version gets released… who knows. Ask the developer via support. They reply quickly.
Maybe v5 will come after v4.9 and maybe v4.10 will come after v4.9.

    1) Just to be clear. When properly configured does this program record the audio as well as the video from an online source? As opposed, for example, to just getting audio through a microphone plugged into the computer. 2) In re to the 60% discount offer with free “updates.” What is meant by “minor updates”? That’s what the terms and conditions say the buyer receives with this program. How often are major updates released and when is the next one due?

I have been giving this a run and I am quite pleased at the results. Correct me if wrong..All videos copied are in .avi format….and then you can convert to MP4 etc… I am slowly checking out the Tuts, manuals, and videos. I am a novice so is there certain settings that are needed and where do I find this info?

Thanks, Ashraf for a great offer and the chance to try it out first. Am I missing something or is there a place to broadcast/google+/tweet these great offers to my followers w/o having to actually go to those places…? I have over 50 tabs open already on my Firefox..I don’t need any more.

I run Xp Pro on one hard drive and Win 7 on another not as a Dual Boot system but each individually.
For comparison purposes I wish to install to each system.
My XP install works fine, however, the program would not run on Win7 (the associated monitoring/activation program (RSUPPORT) was not installed by the installer nor was any option given for its installation.
Am I able to proceed with the second install to Win7 or is that forbidden?
    PLEASE ADVISE
    Thanking you in advance

I have downloaded this file dozens of times and always it comes up with an error message saying the file is not in the download directory. Windows can not find “xxxx_setup.exe” then the file says removed. I am using Chrome and also Firefox. The message goes on to say that I may not have necessary permission to access the file. But of course it is removed when I go directly to the directory. I had this problem with two other files yesterday but never before yesterday. I eventually got those other SOS giveaway files installed.

this software seems to need online activation and needs a lot of info regarding your PC in order to register in order to prevent excessive usage of license.
seems to record videos only in the avi format, there seems to be no option to record in other formats like wmv,flv,mp4 etc …..
however you can choose the resolution and bitrate of the recording.

It pays to read. Answer to my own Question:
If you unzip the files after downloading LAME 3.98.4 final version, you will find the “lame_enc.dll” file. You are required to copy this file to the directory where liteCam HD is installed in order to complete installing LAME. In general, you will find the directory by following “C:\Program Files\RSUPPORT\liteCam HD” . If you have 64 bit Windows, installation folder will be located under “C:\Program Files(x86)”.

program files “liteCam HD4.3″ ? Thanks.

This setting change worked for me to fix the sound. In case this comment isn’t showing up for anyone else (I could only view it in my email subscription) here is the setting change:

If you are still having problem with sound,
Please follow the steps below to configure your audio settings correctly; Execute liteCam
HD> Click Option Button(Gear Icon) in very top left corner> Select Audio Device; By
default, toggle shows on> Click Option button next to computer sound> Select a
    device “which Shows Wave”>Hit OK.

You have to choose from “different” soundcards (mine listed 4 that are actually all the same card), until you get one that enables you to see a waveform. Obviously, there has to be some sound playing on your system to try it.

I’m still not getting any sound with my videos. I tried the version of lame that was linked to in the installation, the version 3-98-4 that you mentioned, and an old version I already had on my computer that I use for audio only recording. I restarted my computer after each try, but still no sound.

The audio settings on liteCam are set to pick up computer sound, which I can hear, but nothing is on the video playback.

I did a complete uninstall, reboot, and reinstall keeping the username as specified, it was my email address, and entered my email address for email but had the same problem. Did a simple windows uninstall, reboot, reinstall, and entered username and emal as indicated in last sentence. The install did indicate I had to do the lame copy but it was already in the directory from before so I ignored the copy. The authorization was successful and the install seems to be fine now. LiteCam HD seemed to run fine. Rebooted just to make sure and recorded some video with no problem. It looks good. I am using Windows 8.1 and the install does seem to freeze for 25 to 30 seconds but it continues, probably just working it’s install magic. I love the flashscreen and the tips make this very easy to get started with. Thank you for this great program.

I bought this program awhile ago and couldn’t be happier with it. Not only is the product great, but the customer support is outstanding! This company wants to make their customers happy, so they listen and love feedback and suggestions. I’m still waiting for them to add a forum to their site, but all in all the product works great, the company is great, and the updates are the only thing I get from them in my email. No spam, and no surprise popup ads. Just a good, clean product, with excellent support AND an excellent price tag (even when it’s not FREE)!!!
As Giovanni brought it, you need to have the LAME encoder. If I remember correctly, when I received my installation link after purchase, I also got one for the LAME as well, to make sure I had the latest version. Don’t know if they include that now or not.
When downloading and Installing ANY software, I can’t stress enough not to skim through the instructions. Read Every word. Skimmers and speed readers usually miss vital information. Just sayin. ;)

    Excellent.
    Thank you Ashraf.
Tested it. Works well. Sharp video, clear audio. liteCam software has a good easy to use interface.
For those who need to, you download the Lame encoder from the site that liteCam leads you to.
Don’t worry — that is a genuine real McCoy open source site for Lame encoder.
I chose to download the Version 3-98-4 instead of the newer latest version.
Because guaranteed to work with liteCam.
Just copy the unzipped Lame encoder files to the folder where you installed liteCam.
You need to do a Restart of the PC.
At first I did not, and the video recordings had no sound.
But after the Restart, all captured videos off the screen had clear and loud audio.
