O App Cidadania Checklist tem o propósito de auxiliar o requerente à cidadania italiana "jus sanguinis" e ser sua melhor ferramenta tecnológica de ajuda nessa caminhada. Não substitui ou concorre com a análise oficial realizada pelos consulados italianos. Sua função é identificar facilmente diferenças nos dados da árvore genealógica a partir de um rápido cadastro das informações mais importantes constantes nos documentos civis e/ou religiosos necessários ao reconhecimento da cidadania, desde o requerente até o(a) imigrante italiano(a), incluindo as fotos das pessoas. Assim como é individual o requerimento à cidadania italiana junto ao consulado italiano, o cadastramento no aplicativo também é individual para o requerente e sua ascendência em linha reta. As diferenças de dados encontradas terão por objetivo apenas alertar, tomar ciência e evitar surpresas diante da difícil tarefa manual de identificar erros em documentos. Não significa que os erros devam ser todos ou em parte retificados, aquilo que deve ser ou não retificado não é regulado por alguma norma ou Lei específica e cabe apenas à análise oficial, a qual também varia de acordo com qual consulado italiano ou oficial responsável a fará. No App Cidadania Checklist, os documentos são catalogados a partir de um rápido cadastro e suas imagens digitalizadas podem ser armazenadas de modo organizado. O aplicativo não informa sobre direitos à cidadania, porém, emite alertas sobre algumas datas que podem ser conflitantes com a Lei de cidadania italiana para que o requerente fique ciente daquilo que deve consultar junto ao consulado italiano, para, se for o caso, um aprofundamento detalhado.
