Ibnu Katsir meyebutkan didalam tafsirnya bahwa sebagian ulama mengatakan, ”Diantara kekhususan surat ini adalah tidaklah seseorang membaca surat ini dalam keadaan sulit kecuali Allah akan memberikan kemudahan kepadanya. Dan sepertihalnya ketika surat ini dibacakan terhadap orang yang menjelang kematiannya maka akan turun kepadanya rahmat dan keberkahan dan untuk memberikan kemudahan keluarnya ruh dari jasadnya.”
Imam Ahmad mengatakan bahwa telah bercerita kepada kami Abdul Mughirah, ”Telah bercerita kepada kami Shafwan berkata bahwa para syeikh telah mengatakan,”Apabila dibacakan—surat yasin—terhadap orang yang menjelang kematian maka akan diringankan bebannya. (Tafsir al Qur’anil Azhim juz VI hal 562)
Hadits-hadits lain tentang keutamaan surat yasin seperti sabda Rasulullah saw, ”Barangsiapa yang membaca yasin maka Allah akan tuliskan pembacaannya itu sama dengan membaca al qur’an sepuluh kali selain yasin.” Imam Tirmidzi mengatakan bahwa hadits ini gharib yaitu diriwayatkan hanya oleh satu orang saja.Meyebutkan Ibn Kathir in his commentary that some scholars said, "Among the peculiarities of this letter is not someone reading this letter in difficult circumstances except Allah will give him ease. And as ever when this letter was read to the people before his death it will be down to him grace and blessing, and to facilitate the release of the soul from the body. "
Imam Ahmad said that it has told us Abdul Mughirah, "It has told us Safwan said that the sheikh had said," When the letter was read-yasin-to people dying then it will be lightened his load. (Tafsir al Qur'anil Azhim juz VI things 562)
The ahaadeeth about the virtue of the letter Yasin as words of the Prophet, "Whoever reads Yasin recitation Allah will write it the same as reading al Qur'an ten times besides Yasin." Imam Tirmidhi said that this hadith is narrated gharib only by one person only.
